    Hey everyone,

Here is a quick pic and info tutorial of how I replaced the shielded bearing 'Z' suffix with a sealed unit 'R' suffix, checked over and rebuilt my motor.

    1. Check the housing and the coil assembly's for any damage or wear, scuffing or loose magnets
    2. layout all components so you don't get confused
    3. place the brass spacer back into the hole
    4. mark on the axle the points where the grub screws should tighten down onto (no way of knowing once the shaft is in)
    5. put the coil unit back into the housing (be careful as it will snap back in real fast with the magnets. Keep your finger tips away!! ha.
    6. Add a very small amount of adhesive into the bearing seat wall to stop the bearing moving during use ( I doubt it would ever move but just incase!)
    7. Push the bearing into the bearing seat firmly ensuring it is seated and installed correctly
    8. Slide the shaft with the brass washer and circlip through the bearing and carefully line the brass bush up on the inside that you previously installed.
    9. Once the shaft is through the brass spacer/ bush, ensure it is at the correct orientation for the grubscres!
    10. Lightly tap the shaft through the housing until there is no gap between the small brash shim and the circlip and it is all pushed up against the bearing (not tight, just touching) the shaft should be just about flush give or take at the other side of the motor.
    11. Replace the grub screws using some Loctite.
Note i have not replaced the aluminum drive gear in this guide but that can go on last, with Loctite too!

Another thing i will mention is that when I had the motor apart i took all of the dimensions and i can confirm that dimensional this motor is the same as the one in the link and so are the plugs! I used Vernier calipers and confirmed every dimension on the drawing.

I think these are the motors. Would be a good idea to get a couple for spares!

    Hope this helps someone :)

Was looking at this site. What size would I need? I do a lot of wet riding.

The size in the motor is the same size as the wheel (608 Bearing) iIm pretty sure the 608 R (Rubber seal) would do the job.
Any reputable brand of bearing will be fine. Try and avoid Chinese bearings if you can

For my motors i've got NSK 608 R - Made in Japan. They seem good but i haven't had them in a whole heap of time!

Just be aware mate, there are a few 608's on that site that state sealed but they actually look shielded.

How is you´re bearings holding up? I took apart one of my old faulty gt motor. I wanted to practice before I do it on my functioning motors =) Very easy to do. I just have to decide which bearings to use now.

A point of information - I have used the racestar 140kv's successfully and made an interesting discovery !!

The brass spacer as shown in your photographs has been replaced in the latest design of the racestar motors - it is now integrated into the casing. As a result it is much quieter - as that spacer rattles around inside the motor.

The new design has these red colors - and only cost €50 each.

P.S. His pictures don't show the red casing - but that was what he supplied (gratefully so) - would be worth checking with him first.

Have just had two of these motors turn up from ali express, quality is definitely as good as the motor replacement evolve supplied me recently, only difference is they dint come with the gear on the shaft, but they also sell them. Just don't make my mistake and wait till the motors arrived till you order the gears, now I'm sitting here with two motors waiting to be installed

If you feel brave, you can knock out the axles from the originals and transfer to the new ones, they fit perfect and work fine.
Thats what I did, as my other motors had died
