New one for the list! I had a brand new R2 remote paired to carbon GT, was riding it fine, then out of nowhere the brake spring unseated and it fell flat at speed. Full 100% brake, threw me off, shoulder injury I'll know the full extent of tomorrow but it's probably not good. I played with it a bit and it was able to catch again, played a bit more and it went floppy again. My trust is shattered. They're sending me a new remote but I'm probably going to sell it and the remote. It probably comes from the same faulty batch mine is coming from. Electronic issues are one thing because they are documented well, but physically breaking? For $150 this thing should be cast aluminum. That trigger should never ever depress on its own under any circumstance.

Heads up to anyone reading this around this time to watch out for the current batch of Non-GTR R2 remotes.

Damn - Sorry to hear it. I hope your shoulder is ok. I just ordered a Bamboo GTR & will now invest in some body armor too.

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind; What did you mean by "Non-GTR R2 Remote"? Was this a previous model/different brand that you had a problem with? Were you wearing Body armor? Do you think something like this would have prevented your injury?

R2 comes for both GTR and older boards. The radio is different but the physical construction is likely the same (but I can't confirm this). I specified for completeness since maybe the batch is bad for one but not the other, or maybe mine was the only one with this flaw since I can't find any other posts with this specific issue. Idk about armor since it may protect me from a fall somewhat but not from roving bands of bullies looking for nerds to beat up LOL

Impact damage is what I suffered. Armor is better for slides and stuff. Most importantly nothing protects if it isn't worn, and I picked a bad day to test without my full pad kit that I usually wear. That's the issue with trust... It takes forever to build and is shattered instantly.

Just happened to me at 20mph. **** it hurt. Went to the ER. Have a sprained knee. Road rash all up my leg. Helmet got deep scratches. Down jacket got shredded on the shoulder. Favorite Levi 501s are trashed. Let’s see what happens. I emailed them yesterday

Disconnect? Phantom brake? Broken brake trigger?

Disconnect SHOULD (should) just coast... which can still unbalance if you're not expecting it, but to send you flying that's drastic

    Here’s there response : “
Has the remote been dropped at all and show any signs of impact, splitting, or damage before or after the crash?”
If not, the remote may just need a quick re-calibration to correct these concerns.

So I guess I have nothing to worry about. It’s normal to have a remote become “ uncalibrated” and lock up and potentially **** you up

I would like to add my name to the list of people that have been injured as a result of the 'Remote Disconnect/Braking Issue' mentioned here numerous times.

After having the board for over 6 months of successful riding (approx 200km) I experienced a remote disconnect and as I felt the remote vibrate due to the disconnection, the board suddenly applied full brakes and sent me into the ground. This resulted in a broken wrist (6 fractures) that needed surgery and plate/pins to fix.

After I was home from surgery I was able to reproduce the malfunction multiple times (I have video evidence on the below steps):
    1. Board and remote off (freewheel)
    2. Turn on board and see solid blue light (freewheel)
    3. Turn on remote (freewheel)
    4. Wait to connection to occur (freewheel)
    5. Press deadman switch and apply throttle (freewheel)
    6. Press throttle a second time - remote disconnect (brakes applied)
    7. Board now in full brakes with flashing power button on board (brakes applied)

The board has been returned to the manufacturer where they would discuss compensation after they can ascertain what is wrong with the board, however the response from Evolve is they can not reproduce the malfunction and can not see anything wrong with the board.

If this story is similar to yours and you are in Australia I would love to hear from you as I move forwards in discussing this with Evolve.

Evolve have a copy of the video along with my board for testing, and they have advised that they cannot reproduce the malfunction or are they able to find anything wrong with the board. Also disputing the validity of my video evidence.

As such I would prefer to not release the video now as I progress with my investigation into others who have experienced this issue.
