Looks like a copy of my remote, which by the way is patented.

Your remote? As in you designed and patented it?

Or the remote to a board you bought and own, which is a Boosted remote?

I designed and own a registered patent to a remote and that appears to be a near exact knockoff.

Neat, got a link to the patent?

Be interested in seeing the patent. Do you have the patent ref?

If you know what you're doing you can find it but I don't plan on releasing much information until the product is available for purchase.

Ahh go on. You know you want to share some tidbits about it with us ;)

    What makes it special?

So patents are about taking a unique invention (which is probably a small part of a product) and opening it up so others can see it and thus __choose__ not copy it or approach the owner / prospective owner about licensing. That is why you see "Patent Pending" on products, to warn people where to look and what not to copy... It is a requirement, that you appear not to be following.

I'd be interested in hearing what you actually think is patentable in this. While the design is nice, little seems very innovative and most is obvious. The one thing, the wheel, there is certainly prior art.

BTW the patent that I invented is US 2009/0287610 A1.

Only one I can recall seeing that has a thumb throttle is from a company called Acton and thats the only thing I see that could possibly be patentable.

It only takes one to demonstrate prior art. I've noticed ace-tm pop up on reddit mentioning his forthcoming remotes, bet there's never anything more to it. I'm not sure how Jacob is supposed to have copied something that apparently no one has ever seen.

It is quite interesting someone is "claiming" patent infringement but fails to link to his public filing of his works he 'claims' he wants to 'protect'. Sounds like someone who is either a patent troll or a person who just wants attention....

Either way, if you have a patent and you're state publicly that someone has 'infringed' on your patent, then go ahead and show the world how they infringed upon it instead of sending people including those you accuse to 'go search' the Internet for proof that they somehow broke a patent law.

If you legally filed for a patent and it was granted to you, its public information. If you as the patent holder knows where this information is, that defends your patent, then as you the owner of the patent in order to protect your ownership of your work, should be pro-active to users whom you feel are in violation. Otherwise its just a scare-tactic. I know many people who have patents and when they see someone who is coming close to a violation, they show the person proof of their works so they can either change their design or argue that its not a copy.

To tell someone to 'go search for it" yourself is ridiculous.

Show the link. Its public information if you 'legally' hold a real patent.

Also if this is the same ace-tm here as on reddit, nice forum manners and language. This is what I came up with when looking for 'his patent'. Follow the Reddit thread for more excitement on ace:

Here's more of his contributions, still no signs of patent, just a critic and a complainer who loves to use foul language....:

Looking at this, I still see Jacob who came up with this design before ace-tm. Also I know Jacob had been discussing this design even before this post started back in January since I was discussing it with him back before January and can verify that. Lastly, if anyone is to complain about patents and has any meat to it, it would be Boosted, and I'm sure they're more professional moved on from from participating these petty claims with true electric skateboard enthusiasts. :

Great man, I'm working with Flatland 3D on some remote related stuff and I expect to be making an announcement in about 2 weeks.

Ok, found a link to ace-tm's remote. Its a true knock-off of a Boosted. So ace, I'd be honestly worried about Boosted going after you since it "is" a boosted remote that's just modified. Again, I see Jacob having the idea and real art-work before you. You just modified the internals of a Boosted remote. I'm done giving this guy any more time than he deserves, he'll most likely start using foul language as he does with those he doesn't agree with like on Reddit. What these discussions lead to are very counter productive for the Electric Skateboard Community as a whole:

Remote from Boosted Dual, notice that the trademark sign on the side of ace-tm's remote is exactly the same as Boosted:

That was pretty much my thinking wiztecy, but being new around here I didn't want to presume too much. In my experience in the software industry the only people who attempt to defend patents by refusing to disclose them either have a patent that's not infringed by the item in question, or they have no patent at all and are just blowing smoke.

ace-tm If you're going to make accusations of theft, which is exactly what you're doing by suggesting Jacob's design is a "near exact knockoff.", the onus is on you to provide evidence. I would suggest you either post your patent or retract your accusation.

The remote is cool and all, but the screen has become supremely useful in diagnosing my board and I simply can't give it up. Unless the "Boosted/Evolve Remote" ace-tm is working on has the screen, its unlikely that I'll switch. The lack of a deadman's switch still angers me as I've destroyed a truck by not being careful but software issues are often easily diagnosed by the info on the screen.

Has anyone sourced the 2-way joystick/potentiometer I would love to put a good one in. I really hate the trigger on this remote, my friends Koowheel trigger is better than this one and he paid $549 for is. Also I prefer down to stop and up to go like some other boards. I do like the power of the board just wish it was easier to control.
