Note that the Carbon GT is already filtering the RF signal since Evolve made a huge mistake enclosing the Bluetooth antenna inside a Carbon Fiber box which is a shield to RF! I would not mess with spraying anything inside the Carbon GT for that we already know the BT signal is horrible and wasn't done correctly. If you do this, coat the PCB, (with the Bamboo) covering the antenna, you have some wiggle room since bamboo/wood does not shield RF signals as much as Carbon. But personally I wouldn't do it myself unless I can see data on the effect its having on my signal.

OMG!! Video is uploading!:see_no_evil: Thank science you have the carbon gt then. Why do you even need the spray for that board?

    Really interesting info Dennis.

Those lecture slides seem to indicate that by taking the dielectric constant, electric conductivity and magnetic permeability of the of the coating into consideration when designing the antenna design, you can optimise to the design to help mitigate the effect the coating will have on it.

It seems like this can even be modelled using software before doing physical tests. There certainly enough space on the bottom of a skate deck for a custom designed antenna, even if it's particularly large. Heck wrap the whole thing in antennas if it allows you to coat them and still make for a rock solid connection.

Or you could even use an RF transparent coating.

The increased number of these waterproof and hydrophobic coatings hitting the market is quite exciting.

I can't imagine it would be too long before we start seeing the electrics pre treated at the factory with a coating optimised for the remote frequency and antenna's used, before being installed to the board in order to waterproof them as best possible while maintaining a rock solid connection.

If they do it at the factory you'd get the additional advantage that the frequency could be checked an tuned before shipping, as it might be the case with those Plantronics headsets.

In fact it seems Boosted have started to try to do something along these lines this with their V2 water resistant enclosure, but they didn't get it quite right. Although that does sound more like a physical enclosure their referencing, as opposed to a coating on the electronics.

The deck kid on the CGT has a gap where the lid lines up with the board. Without a gasket there is no seal from debris and water. So if it were to rain, water would just seep right in filling up the inside like a bath tub.

Nice, doesn't seem to be a range issue there. Hopefully it holds up at low battery levels too.

I hope you didn't go through all this work to create a wonderful waterproof board just to break it from impact damage resulting from the smash at the end of the video :see_no_evil:

That should be easy then. Just spray the gap and then there's no worries about the BT or RF or what ever it has. I've used it and seen what it does, he hasn't. I also have no problem replacing parts if it's needed.

My board arrived on December 14th and this thing is awesome!!! After testing, I applied 3m film to the top and bottom of the deck. Will probably need to reapply since it didn't come out perfect but at least the finish is protected which was the main goal. Glad I did too because this wintry mess would have definitely scratched up my CGT. Balanced all for wheels and adjusted the tension on the left motor because it wasn't spinning as freely as the right. Lastly I applied nano protech to the circuit boards including the remote. So far so good. Will post pics eventually.

I was under the impression that the wheels are already balanced ..Did it take much weight to balance them...?:)

There are counter weights in the wheel hub opposite of the valve stem but for me it was a little heavier than need be so I used lead tape (from golf pro shop) to balance it out. It wasn't much. Added a little bit of tape at a time, and tested until it was even.
