Motor Mount Screw destroyed threading inside the motor

The motor is aluminium, the bolts are real hard anyway..I think they are 12.9's or 8.8's which is a good quality tensile steel bolt.

Stainless steel would be a good option and would be fine for an application such as this.

Stainless steel bolts are poor under tension but for something with as low loads and stresses as this then no problems

The aluminium thread is really deliacate as it's such a small diameter and fine thread. You've just gotta be careful when putting them in. If they are loose or come loose then the loosness of the bolt in the aluminium moving under load would wreck the threads pretty quickly.

Keep them clean and go easy with the initial threading ☺

Hi, just seen your post, there is a way of proper and most important lasting way to fix it.
You've got to redrill the hole to bigger diameter, then retap and get an threded coil insert.
I used it in automotive engine block and it is the best permanent solution as you will be able to put in and take out bolt at any time.

2nd that! If you can get one small enough. I had to do this to a classic mini engine, cylinder head to block..last one to torque up too..haha :dizzy:

Why these ones are awesome is because you threadlock outer thread that is really tight, and the inner is brand new and strong.
One very important thing is to use correct size drill bit and the tap. Good luck with repair

Not to hijack the thread, I just didn't want to create a whole new post for this one question, but does anyone know what size screws I will need to look for if i am looking to buy some spares? I lost one of my more screws.
