What's the price range on the batteries ?

Depends on the capacity and output and you want from the cells, it's anywhere from 4 dollars a cell up to 10 dollars a cell. you have to buy 40 of them to make a 10s4p setup so the price is 40 x price of cells.

Personally I went with the Samsung 30Q's because it makes for a reasonably priced 12ah battery pack and total they cost me 220 after shipping.

Would you please share your source for genuine 30Qs at 5.50 a piece for 40 shipped?

they're 5.18 each when you buy more than 24. They were a little cheaper for me so it might come out to around 230-240 after shipping

I just got my board back from LHB today. I used Sony VTC5As. I got 13.8 miles with over 1/4 mile of hill climbing. Finished ride with about 14% battery left. I am beyond satisfied with this range. I haven't sent my Bamboo remote in for the f/w upgrade, but moving the cutoff down to 10% is going to be the icing on the cake for sure. Here is a link to my Strava tracked ride.

I was wondering who the "Mr. Johnson" was that he was referring to. That's awesome! I'm glad to see this worked out so well

I'm currently putting money aside for this project, however if i wanted to use something a little better than the Sony VTC5As so i can get longer range, what would you suggest?

If you wanted a but more range than the Sony's there are several variations of LG cells that will get you more range. The Samsung 30Qs will also show a little more range. Right now I'm expecting 18-20 miles with my 97s and about 12-14 with my ATs. Once I get my board this week I'll do a range test with both sets of wheels.

Awesome! I figured sense its going to be a permanent upgrade, I might as well invest some extra cash in it to make it as good as possible. Do you have any suggested suppliers for batteries? If it helps, I have a wholesale ID I can use to save some cash.

I just dropped these HG2s in one last night.

That pack wasn't shrink wrapped yet when i took the pic, but when i shrink them they look like this:

    File Jun 12, 3 35 19 PM.jpeg

The pack is super flexible. They basically roll up in a curl if you want them to. That's because i tack them into 2S4P groups like this:

    File Jun 12, 3 36 33 PM.jpeg

Then connect them with high strand count silicone wire, essentially the same wire they use in mains in these boards. Except they use 14awg mains in thiers. Makes you wonder what kind of current they were expecting. I use 10awg leads off the pack in my boards and split into two sets of 12awg after the eswitch to feed the motor controllers.

    I've done a few now.

And yeah, whatever cells you want. Buy them and send them to me and i'll put them in. I've gone Sammy 25Rs and 30Qs, LG HG2s, and Sony VCT5s so far. The Sammys are still the best bang for the buck in my opinion.

I was wondering when I'd see you over on these forums now that you're doing these upgrades. I'm glad it's working out so well! Can't wait to get my board tomorrow to test everything for myself.

I wasn't disappointed. Riding before and after, i could tell it really makes a difference.

The Bamboo series is a good, hell even excellent build for a 10S dual 50 but the battery blows. The mod i do is dead simple and the only reason they didn't do it at the factory is some suit said it would cost a few more pennies. The hardware is awesome. The box is awesome. The deck is awesome. Glass gripped soft dome w-concave... wait.. where have i seen that before... wherever it was i know it was awesome... anyway... They missed an opportunity here to totally own the market. Enertion isn't laying down sleeping, i can assure you of that, and Ollin is coming in hard in the 12S bracket with a whole new take on what's what. I strictly build custom 12S muscle boards now (4P and 5P) and if it wasn't for Evolve i probably wouldn't have half my business so i don't know how to feel about it really. Its a shame to see such a solid build get such a lame pack but on the other hand i like building boards for frustrated Evolve users.

I'm BLOWN AWAY by the performance so far. Yesterday I rode for about 13 miles with quite a few hills and the lowest my battery reached was about 30%. When I got home it was reading 58%. (97mm). Unfortunately my motor clicking turned into a grinding noise so I'm waiting to hear back from evolve before I do any serious range tests with both sets of wheels. All in all I'm extremely satisfied though.

I had to stop because my feet were numb, but wow I'm impressed. Keep in mind it was a mix of up and down hill, and I'm only 135 lbs.
