Found our motors, cheap

The BGT is 7ah. Tested it. I upgraded mine to 15.8ah 10s6p with a longer deck. I literally get triple the original range now with ATs. And voltage sag is not even an issue anymore.
Pretty happy I have a perfect original remote too. Changing to Eco means walking up hills and eco even stops the board into medium wind. Ridiculous option.

Agreed. I think it pops into Eco for safety, since the board suffers from extreme sag, those sharp drops in voltage will kill the boards power & potentially send you flying. But it sounds like Evolve came to the conclusion that a better battery would cut a lot deeper into their profit margin than a firmware update to their remote. The problem is that the remote is not a fix to the real issue, but rather an adjustment to the boards functionality to minimize risk.

10s6p would be nice, but no way thats fitting in the original battery/electronics enclosure. Did you swap out the board & build a custom enclosure?

Just saw you're board on a separate post.

That's an awesome custom job. I dig the longer board, and thats a huge battery. Two questions...

    1. What cells did you use for your board?

    2. How did you put together than enclosure? Just attach two BGT enclosures together? If so did you have to cut anything out of the board to make it fit?

I'm just getting started on this project and eager to learn anything/everything about this type of mod.

Sorry to bring it up again. But if I made a 10s5p pack with HG2s like yours, it should offer up to 100a. I understand there is a 60a limit, so what kind of issues would I face? I don't have hills any bigger than 15% so that's not too much of an issue - I'll also be switching it over to 38T, so I'll be at 30mph max. I'm more worried about the amp draw in AT mode.

No issues at all. It just means that you´re not bringing the cells to it´s max rating wich is a good thing. 20A just means that the cell CAN deliver up to continuos 20A if needed without taking damage.

So I wouldn't lose braking power or fry the ESC/BMS for any reason if I switch motors?

The bms will be fine. But you could perhaps damage the controller. But as I said before, the motor needs to be more efficient to get a benefit. Also the max rpm is limited by the controller.

    I used the 18650NSX 2600mah 20a cells x 60
Yeah its two enclosures joined. Cut both enclosures to open up to allow the full battery to fit as one peice. each battery compartment has its own bolts, but they are also joined togther and waterproofed.

Back to the motors, bought two of these on ebay:

Racerstar 5065 BRH5065 140KV 6-12S Brushless Motor With Gear For Balancing Scoot | eBay

They are the same motor. Same connections, work correctly when installed. Only difference is they make that same GT whine at a slightly different RPM. Same top speed, same acceleration. Would be interesting to try out the 200 for higher top speed, less torque. May just have the torque at higher rpms?

So does anybody know where the find just the motor cog/pulleys cheap online? One of mine has worn out and stripped one of my belts and so I'm looking to get a replacement without buying a whole new motor, although I will probably do that anyway at some point since they're only $55usd.

    Thanks in advance,

    Great thread guys.

Also I believe Evolve will now sell you the drive pulley that's on the motor, but the best deal is the above ebay link.

I'm looking at upgrading my battery as well, possibly up to a 10S6P. Did you build your own battery pack, or buy a prebuilt pack? Any details would be appreciated. If you could start a new post on it, that would be cool. Thanks!

I got my deck hand shaped to my design and battery made by a professional battery maker.

Glad to see those motors work! Makes me want to grab a couple. Did those drive pulleys end up working for you guys? I am getting some belt skip on hard take off(adjustments make no difference) and believe my drive pulley teeth are worn down.

Yeah that is the sign it's worn down, if you keep riding it that well it will destroy your belts in short-order. I'd recommend replacing the pulley ASAP.

They should put them in their online store then because I can't be bothered emailing them for such a simple thing. They're greedy and will lose sales to china parts. They don't list belt-covers on their site either for the GT bizarrely. More lost opportunity for them I'll just buy elsewhere. Really pissed off at how greedy evolve seem to be.

Lame. I feel like they didn't really last very long. I ordered two of those pulleys. I am going to call tomorrow and see if they will warranty some pulleys. I would really like to find some steel ones that wont wear out.
