Totally agree that learning how to control speed wobble is the way forward. However I've met loads of people where an Evolve is their 1st skateboard. The can hardly balance with loose trucks. You be amazed at the diffeenace tightening up makes to them. So my advice for them is to start tight and loosen off over time as they leans the basics and get experience.

I ride pretty loose but keep the bottom trucks near ground tight cos they really help reduce the wobble (fully tested many times lol). You can get the board as loose as f#$k just but adjusting the kingpin near deck. Here is a drawling a double kingpin guru did for me over 3 years ago to explain how it works. :beers:

i agree with you there on tightening will help but it only makes speed wobbles come on at a higher speed its a good first step to build confidence but isnt something that should be relied on as much as learn to overcome the wobbles when they happen at some point everyone who rides will experiance speed wobbles and being prepared to deal with it is definatly something everyone should learn

It's nice to be able to bomb it straight sometimes too, if you're in a bike lane there's not too much space to be carving.

One solution would be to tighten the trucks enough so that wobbles only start at a speed higher than you'll take the board. But then I imagine it'll be so tight, it won't turn well when you want it to.

Nah you can have the bottom one completely tight and still have the board a loose carving machine just but loosing off the top one :p

I'd rather carve at medium speeds 12-18mph than bomb straight at 20+mph anyway

I am discovering this to be more and more true. Went for a sunset cruise along a footpath next to the beach the other day and for the first time ever rode on eco mainly - just for the pleasure of the chilled out carve. This board just keeps on giving - the slow carve is a totally different but equally valid experience to the usual balls-out GT fast as possible ride.

You got it the carving is a blast ! We have snow now where I am but looking forward to that part of the ride again when able to instead of just bombing - ah it's all fun right - damn snow ! Lol
