    Hey folks,

I hope you are all fine.
I experienced a seriously accident with my evolve Skateboard. While riding straight ahead, with about 35 km/h, the brake kicked in and I flew off.
The wheels were locked. Even after the remote flew away and broke - you couldn't move the board (blocked wheels). we had to switch of the board completely and only then it was possible to move the wheels again.

Fun fact. some weeks before (i wasn't riding, because I was busy), Evolve hat me R2 Remote to fix a flickering Display Problem. At the end they told me they fixed it, but it was still flickering... and than after like 200-300m my brakes locked complete without any input...

I would like to collect here in this thread other cases, to see how many riders had this problem.

Until now I found 16 other cases with the same problem... it seams we have here a serious problem.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi mike88 and Sparcoparco,

I have recently (2 weeks ago) been injured in the exact same way after experiencing a remote disconnect and the board defaulting into full brake or full motor resistance. I broke my wrist requiring surgery and plate/pins. As a result of this I am getting in touch with anyone I can who has experienced the same or similar incidents with a remote disconnect leading to board applying full brakes.

Could you please respond to this thread if you still have you board in your possession? Id like to know if you can reproduce the malfunction of remote disconnect and board applying brakes on video?

You can search my posts I have a yt vid of wheels locking on R1 remote. I had a disconnect/glitch late last year after finally my new R2 remote about a week after it arrived, enough to AGAIN throw me off. The connectivity issue is a serious flaw for Evolve but seems to only affect a small number of boards. Because mine has issues with both R1 and R2 remote it proves it is not the remote, there is a failure in the SW or HW on the main board controller. I have friends with Evolve boards who have never had issues - they again have other friends who have had 'glitches' if not full lockups. (Ive had many, many glitchy disconnects and 3 full lockups)
When I emailed again Evolve finally said send it back (at my expense) , but my suspicion is there will just be a 'no fault' argument and pointless back and forth. Totally burned my $1600 AUD. Ive ridden >150km on this board. Ripped off. Never again.

Unfortunately I sent my board back to Evolve and they have advised they cannot find anything wrong with it. However post injury I was able to take video evidence of myself being able to reproduce the malfunction multiple times. However they have disputed the validity of my video evidence and advised they cannot find anything wrong with the board.

Yep thats what they'll always do otherwise they open themselves to class actions and civil lawsuits and massive compensation. Evolve will remain in denial of any problem with their product until someone dies. And even then they'll say its user error.
I have direct recorded evidence of wheel lockup - but Ive even had stupid Evolve fanboys claiming I 'rigged' the footage somehow. Its like a cult. The high priests of Evolve claim no fault and the fanboy devotees will cry wolf on their behalf. Total wierdness.

I have a Stoke and a Carbon GTR and both has same connection loss issues. It usually happens when I riding through an intersection close the the traffic lights where lot of cables lie under the road. It mostly uncomfortable but not dangerous (so far, for me).
My brake lock problem is in the another thread what I linked above.

Yeah happened to me too, cannot believe how common this is...absolute disaster, I thought this **** was fixed in the GTR and that's why I was paying all that money, but I am just so mad now...how can this be so common and not be addressed or recalled or something? Brakes locked fully out of nowhere and remained locked even after turning the board off. Motor controller started melting when I tried to reconnect. And I know everyone will try and find a way to blame me, but this board was running fine the entire time I had it. I know about the brake trigger thing, this was not that. Hadn't seen a wet road in months, was bone dry, perfect temperature spring night, not warm at all, and just out of nowhere it locks. How can I trust it ever again? Hopefully the warranty is good for something...but we'll see, I've heard bad things about customer service from evolve america. Oh also this was on a carbon GTR AT

This happend to my BGTR. Twice. Can't believe I trusted them to "fix" the first time. So I got my full refund after the second time.
I was extremely lucky to not have been hospitalised after it locked and disconnected at 35km/h on flat concrete. Thank **** for wrist guards, gloves and a helmet.
Completely lost respect for esk8 as a result of how it is handled by them afterwards
