I have my Bamboo GTR. I've never owned or ridden an Evolve Board before. I've rented a Boosted for a week in NYC and a week in SF. I hopped on the Evolve Bamboo Street and it definitely feels different. At first I was a little worried about how carvy it was. It was difficult to go fast. I still can't get the board over 21 mph. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Speed limiter is off. I def have the correct wheel setting. Full battery.
I've switched to the All Terrain Wheels and OMG! This is why you buy an Evolve Board. Maily for the fact that you can CHANGE the gears/wheels. Then beyond that it is for the warranty and the quality control. They put a lot of time and effort into making this thing LAST. I have a ton of confidence in that. I accidently hit the gas and my trucks hit this brick pillar. The front truck on my board was freaking sideways! This was day two of owning it! I was so freaking bummed! I took a look, and it is built to be able to pop out of place. Nothing was broken. I loosened everything up and put it back in place, tightened it up again and good as new! Beautiful!
I've had some remote issues but luckily they allow us to modify the trigger values. I'm still not sure why the values are reversed for accelerate and brake? That messed me up. But I figured it out and am getting used the R2 Remote. The fact that you have to use separate fingers to gas or brake I'm starting to learn. But for me the remote is just a little too small. I might see if I can get some rubber case for it so that it is bulkier in my hand. I have to kind of wiggle it in my palm to get a good angle for my thumb to brake. It's not terrible. But for me it could be bigger. Or maybe the thumb piece moved. I had to turn off the dead man switch because it's difficult to hold it and still use the gas/brake. I'm sure for people with smaller hands it is perfect. It does feel super premium and the screen looks amazing! Connecting is INSTANT. The board has a lot of safety measures installed which is great! Is starts in safe mode. It lets you know when the motors get hot. It's a beautiful piece of tech.
Riding along basically ANY path I can find with those AT tires is amazing! I can't wait to get a pair of off-road tires! I love riding on dirt trails. I might even build something to hold my feet in place. There's nothing like AT mode! If you've only ridden street before. This is a whole new world. At the same time, you aren't buying a Baja Board or something that is stuck in AT/Off-Road permanently! You can switch and swap. The possibilities are pretty extensive! I'd love to get the 107 wheels with a high speed gear and tighten up the bushings and just rip across Santa Monica or San Fran or somewhere like that. Hit long distance at high speed on good roads! Looking forward to expanding my wheel/gear setup.
Evolve themselves have been extremely responsive with any questions I've had. Plus the community. FB Esk8 groups, have been very welcoming and down to help troubleshoot any issue. Many of the FB Group Members are DIY enthusiasts and are very knowledgeable.
