I just bought a bamboo GT Street and I am surprised the top speed of the board is only 28-30km/h (18-19 mph) (My weight is 74 kg and I did the test on a smooth, flat surface, no wind etc). Is this normal? When I look up the specs of the board it says it should go up to 41 km/h. Is there something i’m doing wrong? Or is there a way to improve the speed?

Part of that may be related to your wheels, if it came with the 83mm wheels then the expected top speed is 36kmh, the 41kmh top speed is for the 97mm wheels with a 32 tooth cog
The mode you are using as well also has an impact, were you using Fast or GT mode?

Yes, it came with the 83mm wheels. I get the same top speed in eco, fast and GT mode. 30 kmh is fine for cruising but now and then I like to go faster. Maybe I buy some 29T gear and bigger wheels from board bumpers.
I have a (much cheaper) koowheel that goes 40kmh so I guess i expected the same from a board that costs 3 times as much.
    tnx for your reply !

I initially used 97mm with 32 tooth and am now running 107 with 38 tooth. I have done 40kmh up hill with 107, 32 tooth so I know it can reach those speeds. I have not really tried with the other combo's, but can get to 36kmh easily enough with either.
I was riding a GT with 83's a couple of weeks ago and the top speed was lower. I did not push it as the surface was a bit rough, but was getting 33kmh out of it.

To state the obvious, you were in GT mode weren't you and not fast mode? That top speed would make sense in Fast mode.

yes, but Eco, fast or GT mode gives me the same top speed.: 30 kmh.

That's odd. I can hit 30kmh in fast mode, Eco would give me about 14-15mph eventually. Haven't used GT mode much.
