    Hi!

Not totally new to the e-skate market. I drove a Koowheel 2gen 2 years ago and 1 month ago I bought the Koowheel 3gen (€390 from AliExpress)

I was considering buying a GTR but I couldn’t rectify the price. But after riding for 50km’s on the Koowheel the board broke down and I am left at the chat app of AliExpress… I hate that..

So, looking for a better option then the Koowheel now. But when searching online I find a lot of positive vibes around the Evolve but (offcourse) also some hate.

My question (like a lot of people) is the price of the GTR bamboo rectifying the quality but also the service of Evolve? Especially in the Netherlands.. can someone help me out with the decision?

Like secondhand cars, it's not the price you pay but the total cost of ownership that matters. What did the Koolwheel cost? Now it's worth very little, so most of your investment is gone. Buying an Evolve you also buy into the excellent after sales service (and the worldwide social/advice circles of other owners). When things go wrong, the service is there to fix it. And when you want to upgrade or just get rid, it will always remain a good percentage of it's new value.
    Easy choice, really.

They're not perfect though, the remote is much too delicate, and way too expensive, it also has ludicrously hair-trigger response, so you're always impressed with the acceleration, but also desperately trying to keep your centre of gravity somewhere above the board, not 3 meters behind it.
I certainly would recommend mine, all things considered, they are great to ride and even better to own..

New to esk8. Purchased the Bamboo GTR AT last April during the Spring Sales event here in the USA. Only boards ever considered were Boosted (out of business), MetroBoard, and Evolve. Based on their quality, USA based distribution and service center. Did consider unknownboard M5 sold by the guys at averageesk8review. But shipping back and forth to the UK if a warranty issue arose would have been a real pita.

Does Evolve have a service center in the Netherlands or relatively close? Are parts easily accessible in Netherlands?

Not sure of the number of GTRs sold world wide. Guessing thousands. Don't think the posts at this site regarding issues are reflective of the quality of the board. There will always be the unit that gets through QC with a defect. Reason why I wouldn't spend the money on a board without available regional service centers. Also, wouldn't purchase a board from a company that doesn't manufacture the boards themselves or have tight control of contracted facilities.

Price is more than the materials, manufacturing, and distribution/sales cost + profit margin. Factor in the R&D, promotional/events cost, maintenance of regional distribution and service centers, investments into manufacturing facilities and partners, inventory of parts sitting in warehouses........

JMHO. With the right for you choice of bushings & wheels you can enjoy the experience of skating how you like to ride. Performance (speed and range) meets my personal needs. Not a speed freak. 30kph is fast enough. Into hard carving. May or may not meet your needs.

So far, no issues with the board. All emails pre and post purchase have been answered within one business day.
