Where to find lithium grease for the AT bearings in Australia?

    hi guys and girls,

I love my Bamboo GT so I ride it a lot.
There is a bit of a rattle occurring at one of the front wheels, which I expect to be the bearings that need some lubrication.
I saw this excellent video of someone using lithium grease on the outside of the bearings and it seems to work like a treat.
I can't find this product anywhere in Australia though (Bunnings, etc..). I can only find it in aerosol (liquid) form.

So my question is: what do you Aussies use and where do you buy it?

Normally it's used by car mechanics. So could try one of them or a motor parts place, somewhere that sells oil etc. Not sure if that helps or not as from the uk :p

I will do as you suggested and report back what I find so other Aussies can benefit from it.
It was indeed your video I was referring to, thank you.

Just go to Repco. They have it as marine grease in a tub. It will say lithium on it.

although it will make your bearings very quiet lithium grease is not going to be good for your range or rolling resistance!

They might just need a good clean and a few drops of oil. I use sewing machine oil, some use bones speed cream etc.

  7. Check out the MSDS for speed cream and singer sewing machine oil... It's almost like they've just used sewing machine oil, slapped a skate logo on it and upped the price by x4! :p

I use sewing machine oil for bearings from Big W - $3.00 but only for my street wheels.

For AT bearings, I use something more heavy duty like lithium grease - about $8.95 from Bunnings. Spray version is probably best for a light coating (versus the paste).

The grease does not really affect performance that much I find.
