Posted by Klaus B on Facebook, apparently this has some good news regarding potential changes in the law regarding electric skateboards in Germany. It looks like request to obtain approval requirements for the operation of self balancing and electric drive vehicles such as electric skateboards

Perhaps one of our German members can translate a little more legibly than Google and elaborate as to what this really means?

    Okay let me try

It is a proposal to our government to create a law for electric driven and self balancing vehicles like e-scooters and e-skateboards.
They are called an interesting addition to the existing vehicles.

It is not a proposal to legalize e-skateboards it just says "define rules".

    BUT

It definitely says that the current rules are not enough and it is not an option to define e-skateboards as non licensed vehicles.
    Good news!

I'll keep an eye on this.

Cheers Beckz. Let us know if you hear any more news on this.

Seems like a step in the right direction if the government are willing to work with the industry to ensure they're safe and legal on the roads.

Hello any one know if this can reflect in some way an EU initiative or is restricted to Germany only?
Because I'm in Italy and public forces are starting to enforce laws against anything electric on public roads, sidewalks, bike paths.
We have a low proposal that may allow self balanced electric veichles (segway like), but is stuck, was proposed in 2012 and never discussed or approved.
