anyone tried moving from AT to 97mm, wondering if it's worth a try. Love the AT comfort and easy ride for handling cracks, bumps etc but how do people find the 97mm?

I'm also interested. Evolve USA should have em for sale.

I love riding my 97mm 75A. I prefer them over the AT wheels. It feels a lot nicer when carving and it still handles the larger pavement gaps the smaller street wheels don't do so well on.

What are your thoughts on the ride quality between evolves 83 and abecs 97? Is the smoothness negligible? Nice difference? Basically is it worth it?

Worth it ? Yes. The wheel is out of stock everywhere because DIY eSkate builders have tested many wheels and the Flywheel 97mm 75A keeps coming back as the best ride. Yes it was worth it for me.

Now I have not ridden my 83mm street wheels. There still new in the box. I didn't have a option to get 97mm when I purchased mine so I spend $200 AUD on them later. I didn't think twice about the extra investment.

I do have a DIY eBoard with 82mm Enertion (don't buy from them) wheels. These 82mm wheels do not have the radius to get up some of the sharper walkway edges in my area. Also they very rough on some of the bad hot mix bitchumen roads. I can ride them but the board feels like it's about to fall apart. These 82mm wheels vs 97mm are like driving a Toyota Yaris to a porsche 911... But these are harder than the 83mm Evolve wheels..

The 97mm 75A feel nice on the same road. The start of the walkways with the sharp lip are a lot more manageable with the 97mm.

Also you get the extra range over the AT wheels.

If you have a local Evolve group ask for a ride on some 97mm. I went to a local ride here a few weeks ago and about 1/2 the boards where 97mm. The rest AT except for one person with 83mm.

The 83mm Evolve wheels feel to also be 75A Durometer. I think they are made by ABEC for Evolve ?

If you are lucky enough to find 97mm 75A in stock grab them. I don't think there making any more. 78A seems to be the new ones.

If the $$$ it cost for the upgrade would of just been spent on booze and hookers then get them. If it's going to buy your kid school books for the year then don't. :)

I actually like the 90's on the GT, 97's look big for the profile, 83's don't help you much with bumps, cracks and rough roads. The 90's are a perfect in between size.

EXACTLY my feelings. Rode only on AT for the first 2 months. Got the ABEC 97s thinking I'd probably not use them much. But I love, love, love them - on smooth surfaces. Love the efficiency, lack of rolling resistance, speed, and range increase. But you are limited to smooth tarmac, of course AT lets you explore off-road too. Definitely worth the investment. Want to get the 38t gear set soon to use with them, for now they are with the stock 32t gears.

Yeah I'm looking at the 38t gear. The extra torque is not what I want but I expect better efficiency climbing hills.

I will let you know if I notice a difference between my 83s and my incoming 97s.

Def get the 97s 75a if you can find them. Totally buttery carving with those on. It's nice to have the option to slap on the AT and go wherever but I def prefer the 97s as they are big enough to not have to worry about cracks but suuuuper smooth carves.

curious how the 83s will compare to the 97s. still havent slapped those on yet.

I have 2 sets of 97's... I bought another set (still unused) incase I could not get them later on... Yeh they are great... Have hit lots of things accidentally and it just rolls over them.

anyone know for sure what the range difference is from the AT setup to the 97's? Extra 3-5 miles?

My Bamboo GT arrived with 97s, so I rode those for a few weeks. Great, but after swapping to the 7" AT wheels I haven't gone back to the 97s. Being able to ride grass, dirt, super-shitty pavement & over RR crossings is awesome!

This is what im afraid of too. Im so used to the AT wheels now going over almost everything that switching over to something smaller would be disappointing. The offsetting factor may be range or what kind of benefits does the 97s have over the AT when it comes to extra mile(s).

Was just about to try swapping to 97mm tonight but it looks like one of my motors is dying/dead! It seems to stick and run intermittently. I have removed wheel, belt and its the same so will sort this with evolve first!

Has anyone tried the 107mm Abec Electric Flywheels?

I didn't, but I heard that they're too wide and they won't fit.

97's are awesome!! I leave Bamboo GT kitted up with them and love how they feel. That said my Carbon sports AT all day long tho I wouldn't commute on 97s,. Still AT is my preferred ride, esp with ability to burn across grass, shortcuts through dirt trails and just not having to worry about cracks etc. However down park, quick jaunt down road or places I know are smooth 97 are da bomb :)

I'm saving $$ to buy a CGT for AT, so I can keep my BGT kitted with 97s or some street wheels. Then I need to craft a rack & charging station in my car :)
