Remote Alternatives?

    Hi all!
Anyone had any luck finding an alternative for the remote? I really don't like the GT remote. Feel the index finger isn't the way to go for controlling the speed/brakes. I would much rather have something similar to the Boosted Board remote. Thumb controlled. Plus the remote aint build very well. Trigger is slimsy and way too little resistance.

I am wondering if there's any alternatives?

No alternatives. I also had the same impressions you did, others who are veterans with the GT indicated that you do get use to the remote. I ended up finding it uncomfortable, so I modified mine which did the trick. After a week of riding and getting to know the board better, its actually not that bad as others had told me.

A finger trigger actually works best once you understand how to use it. For me I had to make the trigger fit my finger, was too small, and of course make it so its not painful and hurting me. After that I had to learn and understand its feel. Every new remote you go though this no-matter what type. Going back to my old remote (thumb joystick and activation button) actually feels like the odd-ball and now favoring the Evolve trigger remote. So make sure you put in and give it the time it needs.

Yeah, the remote is a weird one, and so personal too.

I've definitely gotten used to the evolve remote and the whole forward and back forefinger action, but it still makes me think how could it be better? And I've not really figured that out yet.

In any stressful hard braking situation it's tough to find a comfortable, controllable action to activate the brakes. I've not found anything yet that beats the default action in real tough situations.

I'm sure I'll get more used to it over time. Already getting a lot better.
Just seems weird to go with this setup. Especially with so little resistance. I often go ECO mode simply so I don't have to worry as much about being thrown off the board if I accidentally pull the trigger half a mm too much.

I think Evolve should make a thumb-controlled remote. Just as an alternative maybe. Would make it easier for Boosed-riders (and a lot of other electric skateboard riders), to get comfortable with the Evolve.

I also don't like the remote due to cheap feeling, light finger resistance, small indent/wrap around, not enough travel, not enough resolution on the trigger sensor (causing notchy acceleartion which could be also due to bad BMS programming curve) non adjustable brightness, the list goes on...

Anyways I agree with wiztecy that a finger trigger is actually one of the best solutions, look at all the remote control cars and how they are controlled. Our index fingers are the most dexterous by far. But Evolve doesn't need to look far to find how years of R/C models have designed their controls, I believe they will one day but doubt they will backwards support.

If you sand down the trigger like I did, you can put the 33%-40% of your index finger the notch[. With that I found the remote to not be as twitchy. The further you move your index finger into the notch the better things appear to become. The first 1/4 tip of my index finger moves quite fast and can be quite jittery uwhen sed as a speed control.

I actually sent a message directly to Evolve suggesting that exact thing a couple of months ago. An alternative thumb controlled remote would definitely benefit both the company's sales as well as their customers' safety. I haven't heard back, but who knows? They may be working on just that.

It would be fairly easy to remove their crappy trigger pointometer and run wires to another remote with a thumb wheel. I bought the parts but got busy with other projects. Hopefully I will get back to it sometime.

We could build one from scratch, can someone design a printable casing?
I have decoded the entire protocol and I can read and control the board from an Adruino.

Perhaps the rumored hub motor board will have a new style remote
