Mod Edit: Previous thread about the guard for more info

    Hey Guys and Gals,

I have designed the second generation of my remote trigger guard and made the design freely available at the link below. This guard is a complete replacement of the bottom half of the remote, I have been using one for the best part of a month now and I have been really happy with it. If you would like one printed check out "3D Hubs" you should be able to get your hands on one relatively cheaply. I was planning at one stage to sell them myself but I think making the design free is just a nicer way of getting them out there. Anyway I hope this helps some of you out :)

    Looks fantastic Nick!

I'm going to send the design to a friend that does 3D printing professionally in the UK to see what he can do with it.

Should I request that any particular type of filament is used?

ABS plastic should be fine, just make sure it is printed with 100% infill to make it nice and strong.

One quick question before I make the order.
I get my new board in Spain next week, Carbon GT, and believe I get the latest type remote. Is this specs made for that one?
Do you have the new type? And is it worth the 15 Euros it will cost to get this ?
Also the guy from 3D hubs told me it looked like he would need some support materials? What type did you use?
He will get back to me in a few hours, after looking over the specs I got from your link.
Also the throttle issue thats in another new post, telling to file down a bit, so the trigger goes fully down, Is this considered whit this?

    Cheers

Yes it will fit the new remote, yes you will need supports to print it, the amount and type of supports will depend on the printer. I used Slic3r auto supports 45 degree overhang honeycomb. Not sure if it restricts the trigger, but it should be easy for you to find and and fix if it an issue. I would test it myself but I'm currently away from my board.

I need to do some sanding. I also plan on spraying the inside with nanoprotech electric waterproofing when I get home.

Good luck on that. I tried also but, they didn't have it. Blue was my second choice and a no go on that. I got it done for free though, I'm not complaining.

I have some connections with access to some polyjet machines that print a clear & strong medical-grade material. I'll let you know how it works out next week.

Nice, I have been wondering if we can use a 3D case to make the remote less touchy... Theoretically it could be solved by gearing the lever...

Did either of you get some custom ones printed up? If so, how'd they work out?

No worries, looks good mate, if you want to clean up the surface finish, hit it with a little sand paper and then if you want to get really fancy a touch of paint ;)
