    G'day fellow skaters,
Carbon Dropout ? Lock up? Crash WIRING? REMOTE RECEIVER ISSUE??

Today I had my first stack after about eight months usage. In the past I have noted that's sometimes the receiver send out either loses signal all the motor locks up .I'm not sure which one it Is true as I'm having difficulties replicating. On occasions I have noted that the wiring harness where it passes through the steel me verygland from the motor are worn. I have made repairs to this several times. Not an ideal setup with a steel gland. Last week I took apart the wiring harness and make sure there was no damage. I put it all back together and yesterday was my first skate in about three weeks. Today I went out again and travelled probably about 500 m when the phenomena happens again this time crashing I was probably doing about 30 km at the time needless to say I have injuries to my knees and Superficial wounds. Unfortunately for me I was passing the only cafe on the beach which appear to be packed out at that time. You can gather the response from the patrons as they watched me crash. I gathered I was thinking silly old *******. Nevertheless I got up and dusted myself off as I thought it was only superficial wounds bit of grazing.. My ego was bruised more than anything else.

What I'm trying to understand is what could be causing this because I always make sure that that charges is good and the remote is not far from the receiver card. At 53 years old I'm concerned that this could have been much worse than it is. I can ill for the time off work. Needless to say this shouldn't really happen and is actually a safety issue. It has always been in the back of my mind that there is a possibility of this happening so I'm always cautious yet today was that day. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Update, my knees are very swollen and I'm a bit sore but I will be at work tomorrow. Can't go skating are not expect injuries. All good.

It's very scary. I had a drop out going down a 10 degree hill. Had to ditch the board and run for my life not to fall over. I'm 50 and feel your pain. The board was only a week old and kept dropping out. No water damage, just something wrong with the electronics. Fortunately my dealer out of Malaysia swapped the board out with a new one and I've been fine ever since. The suspect board was returned.

Considering the possibility of serious injury as a result, I believe Evolve should take this very seriously. There's got to be a fix to make the connection more reliable. I have 2 other boards, a Yuneec EGO2 and a Benchwheel. Both from China and both have zero issues with dropping out.

Last night I learned of a method in which the reception between the remotes and receive a card can be changed. I was informed by a fellow skater online that with the carbon Street(nine G T) that comes with the remote without the LCD display. There is a short and long reception mode. If you press the top right button four times that brings the green LED online which flashes quickly this is the long mode. If you press it again four times it turns that mode off which is short mode. What I think it happened was I had taken my right-hand over a metre away from the receiver card in the tail of the board. This is the only thing I can think of. It was put to me last night that outside that range the board will automatically brake. This is not a clever idea from evolve as it is deemed dangerous if you live the remote above your head is bound to Brake all of a sudden. not good.. Anyway I did discover that indeed my remote was in the short mode. I did think when I took off on the board yesterday that something was amiss with the remote as it is fully charged and usually flashes green this was not the case yesterday. We live and learn however as previously stated if it is unknown to you then that could be dangerous. Cheers

This has been going on with the GT boards since last November - the only solution (apart from re-pairing the remote and the board which sometimes helps) is to get hardware swapped - they usually start by swapping the remote then if that doesn't fix it will swap the controller on the board (which usually requires returning it to the closest Evolve service center in your region) - this usually takes care of it however some still had issues after all components replaced (that could be causing the problem) and got refunds.

(not sure if yours is a GT or previous gen which seem a bit more reliable with the radio link)

Evolve pairing/syncing problems on start up

Good luck - with testing of the prescribe above and real world feedback to Evolve may actually take this seriously enough as I'd hate to have this happen when riding... especially in a suit to work!

  6. Yeah I had a lot of issues with this when I first got my Carbon GT from the first pre order abt 10 months ago. It happened while riding to work in a suit and I ended up slamming into a car and ripping my brand new suit. It was a $500 suit that was completely ruined. Not to mention that this was right after getting it back from Evolve trying to fix this problem. It actually came back worse. However after sending it back again, I haven't had any issues in abt 7 months. Definitely scary and something evolve need to take more serious and fix

OK so today is Australia Day.. I'd like to be able to ride my board but still concerned. I Haven't used it since the crash. I actually broke both kneecaps. OK injuries come with the territory but still concerning. So we shall see what the day brings. Thanks for all of your input. I think Evolve need to make all models of boards and remote details of issues and fixes fully available to it's users. Injuries suck.

  8. After above, my crash was in a bike lane which a f*($& kid went through without looking.. had to jump off and torn my leather jacket. Kid laughed and I swore I could of killed the little ****...

then again, if we, as elec skateboarders, DID crash into a pedestrian and there is injury... who will you think the compo people will side with? It isn't quite a registered vehicle if you know what I mean....
