Do the Gen2s also have the remote problem?

As mentioned in another thread I was thinking about getting a Bamboo GT.
Now after reading a bit through this forum and on the web, it seems that quite some people have connection problems with their board/remote, which can result in serious falls.
I am not willing spending € 1500,- for an unreliable board I can't trust.
Another bad thing is that Evolve seems to be super quiet about this problem, and not adressing what is wrong with some (?) boards, which makes it even worse. Have they solved it? Are newer boards ok? Noone knows.

Do these problems also occur with the Gen2s? Any known problems with those models?
If those are relaible I might just get an old Gen2.

Thats a great question - most of the people on this forum with issues got their boards late October / early November - some have had EvolveUSA attempt multiple things to fix it but still have problems - I don't think they know or will be transparent on what exactly the failure is - they are doing the traditional approach where you swap stuff out until the problem goes away.

I got my remote replaced and tried it briefly before the snow came and it seemed better (but haven't really had a chance to test it yet)

The thing is the same transceiver (radio chip set / board) is used in the remote and the skateboard which could explain why multiple attempts have been required - but we still don't know if its specifically bad chips (ie bad batch or supplier) or a code problem in the remote / controller board firmware or something else.

So waiting a few months to see how it shakes out ? - yea might be a good idea - like you said its a pretty big chunk of change to blow on something you don't trust / can't ride / don't want to get hurt on as others here have.

A bunch of us have dealt with EvolveUSA on this and found them helpful and eager to fix what ever the problem is - its just they don't seem to know (or at least haven't reported) the exact problem so again keep replacing remotes / controller boards etc.
(I'm sure they get all direction on this from the parent ship EvolveAUS HQ)

Good question Dennis. It's certainly a consideration.

I have a pre-GT gen 2 Carbon and I absolutely love it. I've not had as much fun over the summer months than I've ever had before owning this board.

Has there been issues? Yes, there was a slight connection issue when I first bought it back in around March 2016. It took a single phone call or email and the remote was replaced promptly at the next meetup I went to ( a couple of days later)

Incredible service and no problems since...up until about a week or two ago when I started having charging issues with the remote. I think it's probably a tiny issue with the USB connector. As it's only a charging issue, not a connection issue.

Ideal? No, but an easy fix? Yeah, I can either sort it myself or Evolve UK will hook me up with a replacement. Do I sound a little blasé about the situation? Maybe, but that's because Evolve support is so good I have no doubt that in anything serious goes wrong, they'll take care of thing. Regardless, I always do my best to ride sensible and safely.

If you want to get into the e-boarding scene then theres no better time or place. The people I've met through e-boarding and Evolve are amazing. But you do need to be aware that it's an evolving technology and you need to constantly be aware of your surroundings.

All in all it's a freakin' great place to be though. So much fun :)

I hear generally good things about Evolve support worldwide but Evolve UK are awesome. They generally get back to you within a few hours and back on the road as quick as fast as humanly possible.
