So i just rode through a massive patch of bindis and now my tyres are covered in them. Are they safe to leave and would they have an impact of the tyres?

Depends on how sharp, stiff and long the thorny parts are I imagine. I'd be surprised, but then again I had a pretty tiny piece of slate puncture my tyre the other weekend. If you're riding through them regularly I'd install some tyre liners then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Bindi's do cause flats, and the holes as so small you can't see them :) some tyre slime will fix the problem and selfheal the tube each puncture.
