GT vs non-GT noise level

    Hi guys,

I'm thinking of getting one of those crazy electric skateboards you see in online videos everywhere.
During my research (I first stumbled across the boosted board) I found evolve.
What I like about evolve, is that there is a reseller in my country. So in case there are any problems, I have someone I can contact directly (and not only overseas).

    Now the question I got:
In the shop they say that beside the GTs, they also got some of the super quiet Bamboo and Carbon Gen2 back in stock.
So I guess the Gen2s are more silent than the new GTs. My question is how big is the difference?

not sure on the difference as I went straight to GT - Im sure someone will be able to compare for you, but the GT is not noisy, I wouldn't let that put you off and the power of the GT is insane when your ready for it!!!!

    Welcome to the site Dennis.

I have a pre-GT carbon and I've ridden both the Bamboo and Carbon GT. Mine is definitely a tad quieter, although I'm sure that partly due to the fact that mine only has one motor, whereas the new new GTs have dual motors.

There is an audible whine from them, they do have motors on them after all, but it's actually not a bad thing. Pedestrians hear you coming and tend to be aware and move out of the way. I certainly wouldn't consider it 'loud' and it wouldn't be an influencing factor on by purchasing decision at all.

I'd be thinking price (pre-GT vs GT), range (Bamboo or Cartbon) and terrain I'd like to ride (Street wheels vs all terrain or both) as my main considerations.

Also whatever is in stock depending on how soon you want it :)

Thank you guys for your input.
I wanted to get a board as quiet as possible, because in my country riding an electric skateboard in the public is not legal.
So I hoped I would not get as much attention with a Gen2. But if the difference is so tiny, I guess it doesn't matter.

I thought about getting a Bamboo. I read that the ride is much softer.
I have never really ridden a skateboard before (well not srsly and not longer than 5 minutes or so), but I snowboarded for about 15 years. People say that the ride on an evo board is kinda similar to snowboarding, so I'm really looking forward to that.

Not yet exactly sure which tires to get though. Really tempting to go with the ATs and also being able to take dirt roads from time to time.

I'm not in a hurry though. Might wait till march or so when it gets a little bit warmer. Don't plan to learn to ride when it's freezing outside.

Ahh, I see. That makes sense then.

I was also a snowboarder before I skated. I never skateboarded in my life before riding an e-board, but was a snowboard instructor for a season about 10 years ago.

The weirdest difference I noticed when comparing the two is that a snowboard slides out from under you. You can kick it out and slide hard on the edge, whereas on my AT tyres the grip hard and it's a completely different sensation when turning hard. It took me some getting used to.

You can definitely slide on the street wheels, and there's some great slide vids. But it's harder on the AT wheel, yet they allow you to ride over pretty much anything in their path! It's great, such a huge plus for the Evolve boards. Depending on your local terrain and budget just go for the 2in1, otherwise if you'll be on a lot of tarmac and want that snowboard sliding sensation go for the street wheels, otherwise go AT :)

Here's a good sliding vid on the street wheels

    Thanks for all the info.
I guess in the end I will really end up with both, AT and street.
Too bad it's winter now, I'm kinda psyched for this product.

No worries mate, there's quite a few users around you on the map, so hopefully you can find some friends not too far away to ride with when it arrives.
