Decades ago was just a street skater. Basically just cruising and "commuting".

Pandemic effect, aging, and retired. Picked up the Evolve Bamboo GTR AT this past spring. Bit of gravel grinding. Mostly skating the pavement. Love carving going uphill and getting an adrenaline boost carving downhill. Probably the reason why I esk8. Too lazy to push, walk uphill to enjoy the downhill runs. Maybe why the mtn board is literally gathering dust in the basement?

Added couple surfskates to the quiver of boards. Yow Arica with Meraki trucks and Loaded Bolsa with Carver CX trucks. Like the GTR set up on the very loose side. Actually enjoy surfskating more than esk8. Bit more skill and effort required to master basic riding skills. Bit more satisfaction in accomplishment. Similar but different feeling of flow as esk8. Bit more satisfying generating a carve, bottom turn.... by body generated momentum vs. the remote trigger finger.

I do street cruising, also have my Siberian Husky pull me on my regular longboards .i think Surf Skate has more skill as you say and is fun and takes a lot of energy .It will keep you fit .Do you do any board dancing ?? That is something that is very skillful too .I plan on doing some of that ,weather it be on my Regular Loaded Dervish Longboard or my Hadean when it arrives. So i do little of all the things in the questionnaire,Some more than others

Surfskating on the flats and any downhill pitch is all about weight transfer, compression/extension coordinate with rotational torque. Not too much of a work out relative to many other activities. The better flow you have, the more efficient. Going uphill requires more skill and input. It's a momentum and rhythm thing. Deck height is high and surfskate truck dynamics add up to not the best for kicking. Kick pushing requires a relatively deep knee bend of your stationary leg. You don't need much space to enjoy surfskating. Rainy days or when only an hour of time available. Session inside the garage. Soft enough bushings that spinning a 360 within a radius of the wheelbase.

Can't dance on a dance floor. On deck??? Step over and pivot to switch is a challenge. Shorter deck and real loose setup doesn't help.
