$14.65 for standard shipping from evolve USA?

Packaging material cost, labour time costs to process the order and package it, the actual postage costs itself, it all adds up for small businesses that don't have huge distribution centres.

I'm not sure what service they use, but a quick look on the USPS website shows it's actually seems quite reasonable compared to some of their packaging costs.

When you have products like wheels at $60 the margins are likely pretty tight. Eating $10 of the postage costs to make the postage cost cheap on one item may wipe out the profit on that one item. I imagine the wheel package has a decent bit of weight to it too.

I'm not saying the $14 is cheap or good value, it's not particularly great value, but it's often necessary to make the order viable and to keep the product price on the website reasonable so as not to just absorb the shipping costs there.

I run a small business in the UK and the postage costs unfortunately often comprise a large proportion of the total order value. It's a tough balancing act of using a reliable shipping service vs keeping the postage cost cheap and getting the product there in a timely manner.

Like you say, your time is valuable, but so is that of many of us who run small businesses with physical products that need to be shipped. Unfortunately we can't all do free next day shipping like Amazon, I wish we could!

 

Yeah, it's cool, may as well leave it up. I feel just like you sometimes Pedro, the shipping for my fast charger from Evolve UK wasn't cheap (although I did get a coupon code, which helped) and I have to remind myself sometimes that packaging and shipping are real costs that need to be accounted for somewhere. I get spoiled using Amazon Prime so much so when I see high shipping costs I do sometimes have a double take.
