    Dear Evolve,

As far as i know and please correct me if i am wrong, there is no way to update the firmware on the remotes without sending the remote back to Evolve?

If that is correct, please tell me we are not still in 1990's? Is that a joke? How can we drive the board without remote?

Also, i see no mini usb port on the board itself, so how to update firmware on the board if a new version comes out?

    Thanks in advance.

I've got the remote with the update. I meet up with the UK distributor at a group ride and he updated the remote with a laptop, he took apart the remote and then plug it into his laptop :thumbsup:

Is Evolve reading this forum, do they have some support here or is this unofficial Evolve forum?

Currently we have no way of downloading or installing firmware updates - surprising in this day and age when you can do this with so many other cheaper devices - but alas not Evolve skateboards... (again they are not using bluetooth so the app never actually talks to the board)

    Hey Julian,
So they are using 2.4Ghz RC for communication with the board, not bluetooth? I am asking because i returned my board becuase of disconnects and crazy behaviour.

that is correct - lots of info and threads on this from November last year when stupid problems like yours (and mine) first surfaced - they are using a Nordic Semiconductor NRF24L01+ type chip set - (not necessarily original - may be a clone with cheaper quality and hence performance and reliability etc).

Replacing the remote / motor controller radio board has helped some but not all - if you see sketchyness in the connection turn both off and back on (seems to be picking a random channel on startup - and may grab one with less interference) - the key thing to remember is to not button mash and just relax the throttle (return to neutral) when you feel a problem as the commands get queued up then executed upon when communication returns - including that full brake that you were applying to stop out of control acceleration (Which is what happen to me and I got tossed up when the board did brake and stopped dead) - the really annoying thing is there are boards currently on the market (yes using bluetooth) and yes much cheaper than Evolve boards that feel perfect and never give you ANY remote control problems at all (i know cause I have one) - once you get tossed off an Evolve board at a good speed (no fault of your own) you never trust it the same way - which takes away from the fun...

If Evolve would step up and completely redo the remote radio (Which I think it needs) their boards would be amazing - they are still great (best carve out there and fantastic range and speed) but the remote still kinda sucks - reliability of the connection should be job 1

Maybe its just software fault, like you sad in another thread, Safe mode is just a band aid, and in my case it didnt work, my board went flying on its own without me even pressing the accelerate button, actualy i did press it, but it went flying after 6-8 seconds delay. I have RC cars all my life and have never expirienced something like that.

The problem is that i dont know if i should trust the board again...

You got it ! - a cheap $10 rc car has a more reliable remote than an $2000 skateboard - wtf - crazy

Yeah, a few harmless events like this have made me wary of the board so it mostly sits there doing nothing. I take it out once or twice a week but I feel like making a habit out of it is asking for a terrible injury.
