Bamboo GT Street only or buy an AT setup asap?

I ordered my Bamboo GT over a month ago and it has finally arrived, look to pick it up in the next few days. As I ordered the street (not planning on real AT rides) I am still in doubt to also pick up an AT set.

    Some thoughts/considerations:

    - Swapping will take some time so probably will not be doing this a lot and might end up sticking to only 1 setup?
    - AT ride might be smoother even in the city especially with non asphalt bike lines
    - Spending another extra 250 euro worth the investment?
    - AT tyres easily punctured and walking home not a nice thought?

So convince me on gettingt he AT setup and let me know if I should choose standard black or consider another color?

swapping the wheels only takes 10-15 mins not hard at all. it depends on if you plan on using the AT set up a lot.

And what about the ride experience when using AT on roads which would be also more then suitable for the street wheels?

Think it really depends what you're used to and prefer. As someone who hadn't skated for years before I bought my GT I thought I'd get the best of both worlds and get both. Having used both I think that the extra mileage I get from a charge on the street setup is great but you do need butter smooth tarmac for a vibration free ride (I have Abec 97 flywheels as my street kit). The AT kit grips fantastically and really gives you the ability to go anywhere, cutting across grass, dirt etc. Also any debris that a street wheel might snag on is just rolled over by the AT tyre and you barely feel it. Must have ridden 200 miles now and no sign of a puncture - you do have to check the pressures often though as it can drop over a shorter time than I'd expect. I tend to just leave the AT kit on now most of the time...

I got both sets of wheels and have only had it for a bit less then a week. I came from a Boosted Board with no prior skateboard experience I can currently only compare it to that. Since it comes with AT attached, I thought I would keep them on to get a good feel for them. I must say I like them more then I thought. I have a ride to work that is 5km on a nice bike lane and 2km on a sidewalk. I cruise along on the street at around the 30km/h mark (can go faster) and 20ish on the sidewalk. Bike lane is nice and smooth although I'm thinking I will enjoy the street wheels a little more once I install them just because I think a lower stance will give a better feel. The BIG exception to this is riding it on the sidewalk. Even though this is a smaller part of my journey it has changed my ride the most drastically. This section used to make my feet numb but not anymore. It also allows me to pass people on the grass instead of always needing them to move over. I am very glad I got both.

I love the ATs on the bumpy London roads, they're way more forgiving on cracks and bumps than the street wheels.

Regarding punctures, you can get some tyre liners. I think 35mm is the width you want, that right Andy?

He's not had a single puncture since using them, wheras he'd get them regularly commuting before. Going to get some installed on my Carbon this week.

I think I am already convinced. For roads you are more familiar with and now it is comfortable street will be great. If you are out and about and finding your way around better have the AT as you are more flexible.

I have ordered the Bamboo GT 2in1 for the exact same reason. The only major downside of the AT wheels - the range. Battery will drain faster and with the Bamboo GT, you will get a range of about 20 kilometers compared to 35kms with the street setup. Also the speed is reduced a little bit.

The other thing about AT wheels if you get to skate places that are just not possible on street, so you find some great short cuts down dirt paths, alleyways, across grass, through the woods etc. I really like the freedom of AT wheels, grass surfing is EPIC! Once you have tried its hard to give up, like snowboarding without snow! I only use street wheels when Im going somewhere I know is relatively smooth. Swapping wheels is less than 10 min job once you done it a couple of time. You could always start in street and see how you get on maybe as for AT from Santa :p

They work great on rough pavement, not as well as the AT wheels though. Unfortunately, the largest size they make is only 70mm.
