Which parts are most venerable to water issues?

    Hey,

I just got my GTX board. I’m curious if anyone has input on what components fail due to water exposure? I don’t ride in the rain but I live in the PNW and it’s generally wet from Nov - June. I may hit patches of roadway that has water running over it, occasional 20 minute rain to sunshine leaving the roads wet but not puddled.

Has anyone done any protection to keep water out without completely waterproofing the board? Any tips besides ‘just don’t ride your board when it is wet, or through puddles’?

Thank and love this community. A lot of insights here.

  2. I use liquid tape all around the battery cover and sides os the power button and charge button! the weak point is the tap of charger plug that keep opening!

All electronics are in danger of water contact including remote.
    1. Silicone all around battery compartment(2x) wait for it to fully dry and repeat 1 more time making sure no cracks.
    2. Silicone Charging port and remove button cap and silicone it completely.
    3. Silicone each screw on top of the deck just cover it with nice layer of silicone and after it dries put grip tape back.
    4. Silicone well around motor cables. If you get board wet Do not lift it motor upright, that would let water to get through cables braids.
    5. Conformal silicone coating on all electronic parts inside remote and hotglue extra around USB charging port since they tend to break off sometimes.
    6. Its bad idea to ride in the rain, puddles, snow. Remember no traction, no carving, no sudden stopping, have your safety gear and this will reduce lifespan of your board. Have FUN :)
