I don't think we will see OTA (over the air) updates in our current version of our GT's or the remotes - you would need bluetooth or even wifi to do this which they do not have. (of course the remote should be able to update though it's usb port) but they likely don't have the "loader" code in the onboard firmware. - this is one area where Boosted is still ahead.

USB port on the current controller is only connected to the battery charging circuit. Not physically possible to do a USB update at all. With it's STU15 MCU you will only be updating it with a ISP or IAP and there are not header pins on the board to program either.

Guess sending from Europe will not be an option....will take ages before I get my updated remote back.....

where is the service center that you guys in Europe deal with ? (hopefully the regional support centers - like EvolveUSA and its equivalent in Europe would also be able to do this upgrade before too long) - or they will have a trade-in / trade-up program for some nominal fee

It is in Germany....I already asked for trade in (days after I picked up my board) but got no reply on that question.

Maybe contact EvolveHQ in Australia - they must be thinking something for the rest of the world.

Is it worth doing if your remote is functioning great like mine?
    In comparison...
I never update my android phone anymore when it's working fine.
Just opens you up to problems you didn't have from my past experience.

yea Paul that's not a bad idea - waiting to see what happens with a bunch of us with problems these days with reliability on the remotes

  11. Hi, this is Jens from Evolve DE, AT, CH, NL, SE, FI, NO, DK, PL, CZ ,
we just got the info yesterday about the option to upgrade the GT remotes to the different functions.
(New right button speed mode up, left button speed mode down, in slow left button changes to reverse.
Current remotes are right button change speed mode direction up, left button always reverse)
So not a lot of change here. If people like the new configuration more, they can send their remote in. If people like the current configuration more, they just keep this firmware. It is not about a defect ore something, just a different speed mode change. Both firmwares work well.
We will give out the info to customers when we will receive the update tool from Evolve HQ Australia.
Then, if people of our countries like the different button configuration more, they can send it to us (Germany).
    Best regards
    Jens

Interesting - anyone with an old style (perfectly working remote) willing to risk sending it in for a new style button config ?
(to me the new button config makes more sense - unless you are into tricks - skidding etc) - but I would be hesitant I think If I had one that was working perfect - most of the problems I've heard about have been since the new style remote was released.

julian46 So you assume that the new software might cause issues? I expect this is something Evolve would have noticed and if that would be the case they would not be offering the update to be done as offered.

Yea TheWizz - you would hope that they would notice this if the code was the issue - but the thing is some riders (EvolveinLA for instance) have had multiple replacements and still have issues - so that's a great question - is it a hardware or software problem ? - no one including Evolve seems to know or why would there be repeated attempts to fix it - Wiztecy is sending his board back - his replacement remote did not provide resolution.

All I am saying is if I had a working perfect board / remote combo I would seriously think twice about replacing anything and going from a fun / working as it should be situation to one (like me and others have) where you don't trust the radio link anymore and ride around using 1/5th the capability of the board so as not to get pitched off (two weeks after my incident my ribs still hurt front and back - yea mostly an ache but always there with intermittent back pain- and I expect anyone else who has had a hard fall is similar)

To be safe, until the problem is identified, I'd leave my old remote as-is. I have the old one for my Bamboo, working perfectly. Not gonna risk anything with it!

Good call EvolveinLA - and just to recap he has both a Bamboo GT (which works fine) and a Carbon GT (which does not)

I wonder how many of these radio drop out are the result of carbon fibre not being at radio transparent....

I have the old remote as well and it works perfectly.

Until you accidentally hit that reverse button!
But seriously, I'm not changing mine because I don't want to take a chance on messing something up - it's working perfectly with my Bamboo GT.

That theory was brought up and valid until Bamboo GT owners chimed in saying that they too have the same exact issue, and no CF on their board.
