Brand new GTR Remote won't turn off

I just received my board yesterday and took it out for a test to find the on/off button not working after the initial use. The device will turn on after it automatically switches off after being on standby but I can't access the menu or switch the device off. I can't even follow the steps to update the firmware.

It is seriously frustrating. Any assistance will be helpful.
