   Sadly this will never happen, as the usb port is power only, no data can be used.

   Why say never? They could revamp the electronics from the ground up for the next gen.
   
   The new Mellow Remote is looking pretty good, IP65 certified, looks pretty drop safe and you can charge it from the board. They didn't mention anything about the upgradability of the firmware on theirs though.
