Trampa parts on Evolve Gen2 trucks

    So, I like tinkering with stuff, and wanted to see if there was a gearing that would get me a bit more range. Anyway, here's my first attempt at a write-up for, well, anything I've done really. . . funny how it doesn't feel like homework if it's something you want to do :/

    Without further ado, or, unfortunately, final pictures, Tramp Superstars on Evolve Carbon (or Bamboo Gen2).

    Wheels and bearings:

    I went with the superstars because I initially thought I could use the Evolve secondary gear. . . I was wrong, but they're good wheels. I feel like their other two wheels should fit the axels the same, but, haven't tested them yet. The three spoke Primo is pretty intriguing to try to run a 9 inch tire, but, for now, 7 and 8s both fit the Superstars (and I think Trampa has some plans for additional sizes for that wheel as well, including a urethane wheel?).

    I ordered these wheels with the 12mm bearings and 9.525mm adapters. The standard bearings actually fit as well, but they're narrower, so you may need some extra speed rings/washers if you'd like to keep using yours. Could save a couple bucks that way, or keep using your favorite bearings if you're attached to a set.

    Drive Gear:

    66 Tooth Aluminum Secondary gear (drilled for Superstar/Hypa/Primo wheels)

    Belt:
    405mm x 15mm belt 5mm pitch (I got mine from amazon, I'll add a link if there's a request)

    Stuff from local hardware store:
    M4-.7 70mm Socket Cap Screws (x5)
    Spacers #10 x 5/16" outside diameter, 1 inch (x5) anything at ~1 inch or 25mm that will fit over the screws should work
    Washers #8 (x10) again, as long as it fits over the screw

    Process:

    All non-drive wheels should swap easy, they'll be a bit narrower with the adapters, and even narrower if you're reusing bearings (enough that the spacers won't fit correctly :(

    Drive wheel bolts get replaced with 70mm bolts, the spacers and washers over the bolts, and the gear goes on, the gets bolted there. Drop it on the axel and make sure your drive wheel is close to, but not rubbing, the motor mount. Install/remove washers as needed. I ended up with the 1inch spacer and two washers on each, then no speed ring on the axel. I'll probably re-add the speed ring. . .

    Only current issue is that my belt does seem to walk out :/ I'm definitely open to suggestions, my current plan is to turn around the drive gear so the guide keeps the belt from working off, but I think there won't be enough room to mount it all the way on the motor if I do that. . . I feel like there's some alignment issue going on that I haven't been able to pinpoint yet right now.

    I'd like to run different drive gears too eventually, but so far I haven't had much luck tracking down ones that will fit over the 10mm motor shaft. I did get one from Trampa and a friend tried to drill it out, but, precision was definitely lacking and the bit settled into the keyway and bore at the same time and was off center pretty bad. . . I'll probably try again once I track down a drill press (unless someone can point me to the right part of the internet for a 5mm pitch, 15mm width 13, 14 and 15 tooth gear with a 10mm bore. . . ).

    I've only got about 20 miles on it so far, and it seems to run slightly higher top speed, and less climbing than before (which matches what I was expecting) and, it seems to go slightly further as well, which I wasn't entirely sure about. For fairness sake, I'm only about 150lbs, and the hills on my commute are not on par with those in SF or Seattle. But, the nice thing is there are options with this setup. If I need to ride somewhere hilly, I'll swap on some 7 inch tires for now.

    Of most interest would probably be the delta (how much it changed from stock) and the belt size. Please double check numbers, or at least let me know if they're wrong so I can update it. If you'd like the actual file, let me know and I'll email it to you or something, maybe make a Google doc out of it.

    Can I get your spreadsheet? I would like to check your numbers and do my own calculations. This is a good starting point.

    Sent you a PM. If you've got a good idea for how to make it a community available spreadsheet though, I'm open to ideas. I changed the extension from .xlsx to .txt so I could upload it here, but I'm not sure if it'll mess up the formulas or anything when you change it back.
