Has anyone achieved the claimed 35km/19mi range on a Bamboo GT?

i did 15 miles on eco and occasionally use fast to go up hill and when i got back to my starting point i had 35% left

I generally average 18-23kms on the bamboo with AT's on a full charge weighing 68kgs.
Lots of hills ... and smashing the throttle, mines only three weeks old though

I too am looking to obtain further range although I believe my Bamboo to be normal having read all the posts and threads on this topic.
As it is relatively hilly in my area, I average 15klm's and dropping into eco crawling home. (weight 75kg, AT tyres)
I've been getting better though due to the advice of push starting and even more so, by free rolling down hills in the hope to regenerate battery power. I've just pumped up the tyres to 46psi, they were somewhat low and I reckon this is going to make quite a bit of difference..
Should I have inflated to 50psi??
I'm trying to get some "real world" figures on the difference between the Bamboo and Carbon as I'm considering the upgrade - mainly for range. I love the feel of the Bamboo and is why I bought this over the Carbon (and the price) but getting a bit frustrated having to turn around and return home cutting my rides short.

With AT wheels I get 9 miles on the Bamboo GT and 16 miles on the Carbon. Thats not flats, various terrain inc hills etc

I weight 10 and half stone, mainly fast speed mode, yes I push start, I cruise around 20 mph mainly, I do break sometimes ofcourse which is where the reg part comes in but not much lol. Mixture of carving and going straight, Carbon is May 16 and Bamboo July 16. :metal:

Cold weather def affects performance. In conditions you describe I only get 9/10 miles on Carbon GT when's it's cold. The distances I mentioned earlier would be normal warm weather conditions. I'm not sure of a tracking app but iGradient will let you measure a hill.

Just went for a ride mostly hills and dirt so in fast mode. It dropped to eco just as I got on the last run, but recovered to the above after a minute.
I'm 100kgs on a bamboo with AT wheels so not the best combo for range haha. Good incentive to lose weight I guess :)

I'm guessing I would get 15km or so.. maybe push it to 18km if I use eco, kick start and don't go up steep hills at 20kmh haha.

We have a group ride this weekend so it will be interesting to see how it goes.. I'll bring my charger anyway..

Today we went about 9km each way, some hills and lots of flat bits too. I had about 30% left when we got to the pub so I found a PowerPoint and whacked it on charge for the hour or so that we were there. 91% when we left. Found it dropping out of fast to eco closer to the end of the trip. I think the return trip was more up hill. Plus I need to lose weight so the board doesn't blow out it's ort speeding me up the hills.

One thing to watch out for is the brakes.. on the way back I was regen when I was going down hills but one hill it came on hard and I went running.

All up I think it was about 18-19km and I limped in with maybe 25%. I'm not sure if the board likes getting a partial charge and not completing the charge .. dunno..

One guy had a bamboo GT on street wheels and he was all good, and there was an older evolve bamboo who didn't need a charge either. Only the boards with AT wheels needed the top up.

I would get some street wheels for better range but I've noticed that with the AT wheels at 50psi it's heaps good.

The problem with the battery procentage dropout is normal. It is something everyone experiences, you'll sadly have to live with it :)

I am 6'5" 245 lbs carrying a 8 lb drone back pack, street wheels went 19.5 miles mostly flat trail (Burke Gilman Seattle, Matthews Beach To Fremont and back) with some slight grade. Had 10-20ish % left on my Bamboo GT with 83mm street wheels averaging 11-12 MPH. Used Eco on flats, fast or GT on grades.
(Towards the very end I was going up long slight grade did a little pushing, it dropped to below 2% so I was also hanging onto a family members bike getting a slight pull last 1/2 mile.. but at the finish the battery percentage went back up to around 20%)
This was my 3rd ride, still learning & got my 1st scrape. The remote was not connected/showing battery level a couple times.. on one occasion it was slow to shift.. thankfully I was only going about 10 MPH, but it did go into reverse! (Yes I have the new remote, but because it lost signal the commands were delayed)
The only casualty was an LCD screen on my camera (which was on my belt) some aches & scrapes.
But I definitely think you should be able to completely DISABLE reverse. I will never use reverse. What if I was going 20MPH+ ? Yikes!!
Evolve should also do away with the board shifting into ECO automatically when battery is at 40%. Going up a hill in GT and having it shift down is also dangerous.. I should be able to control when I shift gears.
These are 2 major flaws and could be a deal breaker if it happens again. Just dumb really.. asking for trouble. Whoever thought of these ideas.. should repent or be fired.
It will detract from the overall potential this board has to cruise and have fun without worrying about the risks of breaking body parts because of this design debacle.
Otherwise a very fun board. good control, stylish and the advertised range is spot on.

  12. Thank god my Carbon GT has the old remote setup that does not automatically drop you into ECO and also does start you in ECO all the time. However, my Bamboo has the new remote setup and couldn't agree more about these new "updates" were just a step in the wrong direction. Also besides starting and auto switching to ECO, I have also noticed that my bamboo remote takes significantly longer to connect to the board, and it also experiences the issue where the battery just shows ---% until I engage the throttle again for some reason. I really do not understand what they were thinking with some of the remote updates.

My remote always starts in eco and I have not experienced the drop from fast to eco on hills, yet my board was bought in January of this year so I must have the new firmwear. What does the latest remote start in?

  14. The original remotes would start in whatever mode you left it in when you turned it off last. So I always ride in GT and my remote on my Carbon(old firmware) always starts up in GT mode. However, my bamboo has the newer remote which always starts in ECO. Also the newer remotes will auto shift you to ECO if your battery sags to a certain level like 30% - 40% which this battery sag happens when pushing the board aka going up hills.

Got my board today with 97mm's. Managed to get only 11km on my first ride on ECO and 1 time small hill on fast. And the battery was flashing red 0%. Very dissapointed. Wheres my 35Km or even 20Km. It was +5 celcius and I weight 100Kg. Most on flat asphalt and it was little windy but I rode both tailwind and headwind equally so I guess it balances out?

Definately give the board a full charge before using.

It was at 100%? My next ride got 11km again. Only on eco, no stops, flat asphalt.

Went for a ride today on carbon gt 97mm. Mostly flat terrain full charge and i did 40km before the board died completely. First 36 in fast mode last 4 in eco.

  19. Shame your stomach is not flat like the asphalt. Don't blame the board because you are riding it at it's MAX weight limit. Surely everytime you eat double cheesburgers and jumbo sodas you know that you are going to flatten your board out like a pancake.
Seriously, you really should not even expect 40%of the max possible distance. You are riding it in freezing conditions 5 degrees plus the windchill when it is moving and you are fat. Just be happy it moves at all and allows you to leave the house now you found a way without having to walk. Just please do not dress like a skater because fat people on electric skateboards do not look as cool as you think you do.

  20. Hes riding it at max weight with minimum temperature and obviously too fat to push for a rolling start so I don't think it's going to matter what gear he is in. He is going to have a hard time no matter. Dude needs a motorbike engine powering his board

Before anyone moans at me for not being PC sensitive, BUKSHUKALAKAMUTHAFUKA! (could give a fuk)

Please do not think this is a personal attack as it is just being honest without sugar coating the words. Non PC is not being abusive or insulting, it is just not being gay
