HI Lethal, I am no electrical wiz either but have had some experience with building quad copters. I am running AT setup. With my back pack on going to work I am also 90kg or close to. The wheels would have some effect as it pretty much changes all the ratios like gears on a car and intern change speed and torque effecting the load on the motors. This is a tough one to isolate I must admit. Im just trying to eliminate best I can at least the electromagnetic interference.

    For me drops outs only really occurred under load / climbing up hills. At least twisting the wires almost completely got rid of my D.O's. The other thing I am now doing is picking a speed to go up the hill and sticking to it. If I slow down a little I maintain throttle not increase. I am also not going super quick up the hill I just want to get up it so I don't run out of battery over my 23km journey to work. It is very tempting to keep increasing throttle but battery life for me is king.You can also off load your setup with higher tyre pressure. I run at least 45psi now reduces punctures and gives me more battery. :}

I wonder if it is possible to wrap the wires in some aluminum shielding like you see in USB cables

Yes you could but you would have to shrink wrap the foil once you had it on there to make sure it doesn't touch or short out the speed controller.

Yeah I fly RC as well ;-) Mostly turbines but played with fixed wing drones a little too. We seem to be on the same track here. I never ride flat out in GT anymore since I had a drop out on my buddies BBGT. Accelerating like a demon on the way to full speed as I had with my Carbon and BANG....drop out. I got launched off the front, busted a few ribs and it happened so bloody fast I didn't even know what really had happened. I ride quite a few kms daily and yeah, in fast mostly at 2/3 throttle. Not so much for the batt life, but I know I can survive a drop out at this speed. I really want that confident feeling again for sure. I had 2 drop outs just yesterday in slow mode. Just trying to narrow it down to a pattern or set of circumstances as you mention you are trying to do as well. I get mine only under load as well although when I go for a group ride, I can carve away a full set of AT's without a problem. Weird, constant speed carving (17-20kph) and I don't recall a single one. Crusing along on a suburban street or sometimes up a slight hill and there it goes randomly. I'll be sure to let you know how I go with the twisted wires, although I'm in Brisbane and it looks like I may need a boat for the next week!

Do you hold the remote in your back hand or front hand just out of interest.

I know it sounds a bit like when apple's answer to their poor antenna placement was to tell you to hold it in the other hand, but since I changed to my trailing (back) hand, and I guess as I wear wrist gaurds the bottom of the remote faces down I haven't had a drop out for a while.. touch wood..

I'm holding it in front hand actually... might try this one out..

Although I'm doubting, started with no dropouts, to a little, to a lot now.. :(

Hi, I'm in Brisbane as well so no riding for me this week. I did get another 46km in on my round trip last week and no problems. I generally think this could be a combination of things.

    Signal strenth could be stronger
    Better antennas
The throttle construction in the remote
Standing where the speed controller / antenna is probably not fantastic.

Saying all this I'm sure Evolve are working on improving this setup. It's a great board, the best range and power. I still love it, I'm sure it will get better. :)

For sure Evolve are keen to fix the issue and they have been great. I actually have Nick's gear in my board which was glitch free in his CGT while he tests my gear in his. They haven't reproduced my issues but have been riding harder than I do and I have now experienced issues with Nick's gear. This is why I'm leaning towards the weight, friction theory. It is a wicked machine and I want to keep riding it....just with 100% confidence on signal processing would be great as it was for the first 6 months. If you aren't a member, join the Brisbane/Gold Coast Evolve Riders FB page man. We are going on another ride in the next few weeks. Been on a few now.....great times!

OK, just did 14 kms after the "wire twist mod" in all modes with varying throttle and had zero drop outs. Early days, but will keep a log and keep you guys posted. Interestingly though, I was looking at my remote when I pressed the remote to close my garage and it did the "lock out" thing...

OK, l'm starting to get excited now. Over 100 kms since doing the mod and not a single glitch, drop out or anything. Interested to see how everyone else is going??

BIt of a bummer. I did about 40+ kms yesterday and I had a drop out. I was filthy as I really thought/hoped the mod would solve the issue 100%. So, just an update, I've had the one drop out now in about 150kms.

I'll have my RF equipment all ready to go this weekend and my first project is to analyse the remote - board communication. I should be able to work out how it works and what happens during a dropout.

If anyone else is into RF and wants a capture of the tx/Rx to analyse or playback let me know.

I'll setup a new thread once I've got some work done. Shouldn't be too hard as I doubt it's encrypted.

Mate, keen as to hear your findings. I've been chasing the Ghost in my machine now for 6 months and I'm so over it. With the reason/s will hopefully come the solution.

Got my 3rd remote in 3 months 2 days ago. They all stopped working after around 2-3 weeks. (wouldn't pair to the board anymore).
No I'm hoping that 3rd time s the charm, and this will not happen again in 2 weeks. If it dose, Im returning my board for good.

Hope it won't come to that, since I really LOVE my C-GT. But need to trust the remote 100%, now its under 50 :(.

    Cheers

Can someone please make a 20 sec video and show us how and what wires you twist? Have tried several times, but no difference for me. Would really appreciate it.

Yeah I know....But I have tried "twisting" them, whit no success. So was thinking I did it wrong somehow. Thats why a short video would be awesome :)
