Best Bearings for Bamboo GT Street setup? What do you use?

  1. I've seen a few people mention that they're using aftermarket bearings, but I haven't found many specifics on what exactly to get. My understanding is that the stock Evolve bearings are just shielded (not fully insulated) and I'm worried about dirt and debris getting in there. I also want something with better lubrication and speed that will have some good durability.

What bearings should I use for a Bamboo GT Street with Abec 97mm's ?

    Thanks guys!

I have tried a few, and can recommend and that are decent quality, built in spacers and speed rings are good too. Currently I am using Bronson Speed Co. G3 Bearings, check them out on youtube, quality bearings, decent price :)

There is probably no real reason to look at any expensive ceramic's, as I'm not sure you get your money's worth, but I could be wrong, I have never used $200 bearings, perhaps someone can test.

I don't mind to spend a bit if they're good but yeah I won't be paying $100 or more. Anything sub-$50 that is super reliable and good quality is kind of where I'm looking

Bronsons are the nuts!! Awesome for the price too! I don't think worth spending more as your restricted by how fast the motors go.

There are used here which is good enough for me :punch::punch::thumbsup::beers:

I use the original evolve bearings and these. During my 6 rides  I haven't noticed any difference yet.

I have the zealous. I like that I dont have to use the bearing spacers because they are built in on the zealous.

Also using Zealous bearings. They make changing the wheels on the go much easier. Less to keep track of.

I've been using Neal ceramic bearings. About $40 on Amazon.

Use your Evolve stock ones until they are gone, with a street set up and maintenance your motor bearings and gear hub bearings will go long before your wheel bearings will.
Trust me I always used to buy bearings thinking that i need new ones but now i just have a lot of half used bearings that still ride like new

I ordered the Zealous bearings (paid 25 euro in NL including shipping) and they are excellent. Installation is a breeze (no spacers and no speed rings anymore!) and when I tested them they even seemed to be more quiet compared to stock bearings. The green is also a match with my ABEC11 97mm 75a wheels.

In the land of regular skateboards, the most popular bearing to buy is Bones Reds as they offer great value for money - ask in any skate store. Bronson Bearings are 'new' to the scene are making quite an impact but bear in mind there's a MASSIVE marketing machine behind them - they are owned by NHS Inc.

If you have the money then by all means splash out £120 on Bones Swiss Ceramics. In labratory conditions expensive bearings WILL spin faster and longer and you'll be able to film this and post it on YouTube - but out on the road/track/skatepark it's perhaps a different matter. Bearings have to be both smooth (spinning) and have a strong integrity to withstand rider weight, weight shift, direction shift and stress from the side too.

Bearings, bearings, bearings, the age old question… which ones to use. I have ridden lots of different kinds of bearings. I am old enough to remember having to take them out (single bearings) clean the casing and reinsert with lube. I have ridden ceramics, mainly bones but others as well and find that they are fast but better… not in my opinion. For 20$ (that is with washers and spacers) you can get a new set of bones reds that will skate fast and hard. You can beat them up all season and change them out next season if needed. With the Evolve boards the bearings don’t get nearly the abuse they would get say at a park dropping the board in or doing street course tricks. The Reds hold up.

I have nearly a 10 year old set of bones ceramics bearings in my skateboard. They just last and last even through hundreds of stair sets ranging from 1-13 stairs. I have never put them in an electric board but I would assume they would be great.
