Glad that you're okay. Were you riding the board or did it just happen while charging? That's so sad to hear...

Yikes! Did you get any pics of the tragedy?

The battery was at 50%. It happened while riding. The remote said battery drain. Then it started smoking....

No, they will not. Just to make that clear: It´s my self build battery that exploded.

Ok, if you wrote that already I didn't see it.

Damn man this is scary,,,,, I got this same "battery drain" message yesterday, although I'm on the stock battery( i made a post). Were you in any of the hidden remote menus when this occurred? Or shortly before? This is pretty scary really..

Yes, I was looking for the voltage a few kilometers before. It was at 36 to 37V.

Just a weird coincidence because I received that message and had my board shutdown after being in that battery menu as well. I realized later I had switched the Protocol mode on the remote. Do you have a V1 remote/ESC?

No mine is V2. But no worries. A change of settings doesn't let a battery explode :)

Overly high discharge can most definitely cause it to heat up.

Any idea what happened here? Do you think it was defective batteries, or possibly the Evolve electronics that didn't work well with the battery?
What mode where you in when this happened?

I really don´t know. It could be everything. It just looks like Dresden 1945 inside the board.

Are you willing to sell parts of your board or are you going to buy a new deck?

It´s as good as new. I only need this thing in between :)
I asked Evolve for the parts and it will be about 1000€ for everything, maybe 700 if they sell the bms without battery, as I still have the original battery without the bms. But perhaps I have enough of the self building thing :/

Sadly they don't sell the BMS/battery separately, I've asked. But 1000?! Can't you get a brand new Bamboo GT for that? I know Evolve USA is selling Gen 2 carbon AT for $1200 - might be worth taking a look at.

Do it again! But without the fire and melting this time :)

I don't suppose there's any real way to diagnose what went wrong?

I was just looking at your deleted photos, perhaps it would be worth undeleting them so others could have a look and I could add a large warning disclaimer to the start of each post?

Is there a fuse in the Evolve boards? If not, we should add those!
