I know that boarding is typically a "younger" sport but I was interested in knowing how many out there are north of 40.

I'm 53 and just got my GT Carbon. I'm not an athlete per se but am fairly athletic and in decent shape. Not afraid of speed or falling as up to 5 years ago I raced a Gxsr 600 on the circuit and have taken quite a few nasty spills.

Got my board on Thursday and so far it's been a blast on the GT. Slow mode lastest for about 3 seconds. I went through ECO mode and am now doing about 20-22 MPH in FAST (have the AT setup). I'm using full safety gear in case anyone is wondering.

Happy to be part of this community. Hope you're all well.

Define old. I'm 72 and get 5-10 miles every day on my Bamboo AT when I'm not kiteboarding. Also a Vet. Ex Navy carrier pilot. You're as young as you want to be

  6. I am 46 and just got my carbon GT. Loving it. I will say that although there is not a lot of exercise per se, Just maintaining a stance for long periods of time takes its toll on the legs. Good stuff.

Thank you gentlemen for your service! Carrier pilot! Wow!

I agree that you're as young (or old) as you want to be. I live by that. I'll be living life to the fullest as long as my body and the "man above" will allow.

I'm 50, but feel like I'm 30. Staying active and flexible is my way of staying young! When I am riding, I feel like I am a kid again! I want to be like PacoP, 72 years old and still living young. Awesome!

Flew A-4's during Nam. Got shot down up North (but made it to Gulf) near end of war in '71. Then flew EA-6's and was Air Boss on Nimitz. Retired in '91 and took up windsurfing and now kiteboarding in South Texas. Now have almost 800 miles on my Bamboo AT since Nov. Kids in neighborhood are really envious and I've let a lot of them ride it with me doing the controller But they're really too pricey for the parents to get them one. Seems to be a young adult and REALLY old kids' (like us) thing.

I see the same thing where I live. Kids totally envious when I'm on mine. Parents won't buy them one, for obvious reasons. With that said, I'm actually the only "kid" at 54 in my area that rides one. Wished there were some other guys or gals to ride around with.

Im just north of 40. Haven't been on a board for 25years but loving the bamboo gt, its pretty forgiving for something so powerful.
Hopefully i get a replacement motor sorted out this week so i can get more rides in before the weather turns bad.

The A-4 is an amazing jet. I flew the TA-4J through training in Kingsville and loved the hell out of it! Incredibly nimble.

The Nimitz must have been nice. The Saratoga was an old dirty boat.

Evolve needs to change their marketing strategy: "Evolve Boards - Our Country's Hero's Ride Them!"

    Thanks again for your service!

    Great responses!

Yea. I was on 8 different carriers. The Ranger and Coral Sea are tied for the worst. The Hancock (27c) wasn't even that bad. The nukes were all pretty plush. Huge flight decks. You could almost spot land instead of flying the ball (daytime of course). They all looked the same at nighto_O
