UPDATE******* MY BOARD APPEARS TO BE FIXED!!!!!! ********
It's been a long time since my last post here, I was in Ukraine for 5 weeks. I wasn't able to get the controller switch done in time before leaving, and I was super-relieved that Evolve USA said it was no problem to ship the replacement controller & remote to me after I got back. Great service.

Well, I've been back for couple weeks and only now had time to do the switch - follow the Evolve AU YouTube video on how to do it, was really not difficult at all. I did have to shave 1mm or so off one side of the hole (in the CGT chassis) for the new controller to go in, it was hitting the hole edge slightly and I didn't want to force it.

Anyway... took her out for first test drive today, 7 miles or so, and she worked perfectly!!!! No drop-outs, no loss of power or disconnection. I was also watching the display to see if it'd lose the batt % reading momentarily, that was perfect as well.

Fingers crossed, she'll remain this way forever. I love both of my boards, and even though this issue with the CGT has been a little frustrating, Evolve USA has been there for me and gone above and beyond in helping me with getting my board working perfectly. I am one happy Evolve owner!

Good to hear, I really hope it lasts so still be cautious. My board rode fine for a week and started acting up again, not as bad as before I sent it back to Evolve, but still inconsistent with the connection and throttle feel. Keep us posted how it holds up!

I'm considering purchasing an evolve carbon gt at, but I am extremely concerned after reading through this thread. Is there anyone who can comment that can say their board is working 100% fine? I don't mind dropping $2k for a board, but if it puts my safety at risk through no fault of my own, then I am likely to end up looking at other options... raptor2 or qu4tro mainly...

For anyone who has had evolve fix their board, is it working perfectly now? Do you regret the purchase?

tsladamus I've had my CGT just over a month now and I've had no problems with it ,saying that sometimes the battery % display on the remote disappears for about 5 seconds then comes back but this doesn't affect the board in any way .weather it's worth 2k I'm not sure but I don't regret buying it one bit as it helps with my depression and it gets me out:)I :)

It's a motorized longboard, that is very fast. It's not 100% safe, just like anything fun. Wear gear & use common sense...

It CAN be designed to BE safe. But when there's a design flaw, that's another issue! The Pinto was a bad design flaw. And cars are not 100% safe. If the manufacturer does their job properly, engineers the board to be safe like my other fast electric skateboards, then we wouldn't be having this discussion in this thread.

As for should a person buy one or not, its up to you. I haven't seen anything yet that addresses the defects of bad motor controllers, remotes, etc at all. This stuff does not magically get fixed. If you get one, you may get lucky, you may not. It is fun, but I think its way overpriced for the low quality components in it. It also suffers a serious voltage drop, so don't think you're going to be going fast as Evolve posts the board does for long.

However if people notice in the later deliveries that the board doesn't do anything stupid and exhibit any signs of loss of control and disconnected throttle responses, your changes are most likely getting higher that Evolve did something to help address the problems.

2 x GT Carbons and 1 x GT bamboo zero issues both with boards and remotes. There will always be son failures but I know for a fact the failure rate is very low % > 5% of boards in the uk!

100% fine! ZERO regrets. ZERO problems. ZERO falls. ZERO unexpected behaviors. The remote is very sensitive and responsive. These boards are powerful. They take skill and time to get familiar. worth every penny to me.

How about the remote and getting thrown off the board due to the remote engaging into reverse all of a sudden:

Got thrown off GT due to faulty remote:
Got thrown off GT due to faulty remote

Cruising on eco then bang thrown off board:
Cruiseing on eco then bang thrown of board split my head open

Another thrown off the evolve board:
Another Thrown Off the Evolve Board Thread

Wondering if any improvements have been made in recent Carbon GT batches either to the board, remote, or controller, or if the above were simply unlucky in receiving glitched hardware..

I accidentally shifted into reverse myself a few times when I was first getting used to the remote, but i caught it before throttling up, and got used to it before very long. Never had any "sudden, unexpected" acceleration/braking/reverse.

try to replicate this again and film it, as many try to press buttons while the remote screen drops out which is usually just the telemetry data not the RF for the trigger, and when you press buttons, it will then link back up and put you into whatever mode the buttons press lands on, best to do nothing when this happens, as you can also get into trouble if this speed mode changes, and you dont see the screen, it will only then go into that mode after you put the trigger into neutral position then pull acceleration again, so all these things can add up to people thinking the board did something itself.

I see Feb 15th coming up for next batch of preorders, but after doing some due diligence, I'm still worried about controller/receiver issues while riding / changing modes while riding etc.

I've read through these forums and reddit -- seems like a lot of people have issues with modes being changed / queued up and then executed when they don't expect it. Those that don't maybe don't change modes while the board is in motion (?)

The roads around here pretty rough, so the AT style wheels are ideal for me. I don't care much for top speed, I'd be fine staying around 15 mph. The range is extremely nice on the CGT, it's great not to have to worry about recharging during the day.

Trying to decide between preordering a OneWheel+ or a Carbon GT AT...

Main worry on CGT is getting thrown off due to glitchy controller bugs -- seems to me that mode queuing should not be allowed -- seems like that throws a lot of people off guard and can cause serious injuries if you are unaware about that bug.

I have a GT coming very soon and I am worried about the same issue. Nobody seems to be able to give a straight answer about this important issue. Wiztechy has contributed most to this issue, he has a lot of insight about this problem. Not sure if Im going to keep the GT when it arrives and may sell it without even opening it. Just can't get passed this issue. Not sure what I will decide.

Don't let it put you off, a small % of boards are having issues, but if you are unlucky enough to get one that has, the support team will sort it out asap, once you have a fully functioning board you will love it, I went through it all, 3 fixes, and the board is perfect now, and I am still using the "old" remote firmware.

Is there anyway to download the older remote firmware? From what I've read, the older remote firmware did not allow mode switching while the board was in motion. The newer firmware allows this, and is perhaps the cause of riders getting thrown off..

nope, users can not change their firmware, as the usb port is power only not data, so only Evolve can do this.
Either firmware allows you to change speed modes while board is in motion, but the changes only take effect after you take your finger off the trigger and apply it again. The speed mode issues a small % of people are talking about is where they press the button to change, and it does not change, so they press it again, and either when they go off then back on the trigger it lands on that mode, or results in a late registration if the boards telemetry data signal gets lost.

You just have to be aware that pressing controller multiple times can cause the board to go from fast to reverse and keep in mind to only accelerate when you see remote has accepted your command don't let it put you off these boards are so much fun

Do you know the percentages of boards that are defective JORDAN? I don't really care about any other malfunction except the safety issue. A board stopping in Eco mode can kill you if you are not wearing protection. And even if you are wearing protection, you can break your neck with a sudden fall like that. And in GT or fast mode with a sudden stop, forget it, your done. Do all electric skateboard companies have boards that suddenly stop? Does boosted do this too or metroboard? I don't think they do, so why are we paying premium dollar for an Evolve when the safety issues is so crucial? Any thoughts guys?

Just a thought but would it be an idea to have an online petition in which we express our love for the Evolve brand and product but we also urgently request a clear statement to allow us to make sure all of us are safe and keep enjoying riding our boards. This would mean an overview of the scenario's we have described and answering how this should be looked at (from user mistake (as in putting it in reverse by accident) versus a possible remote issue, etc.)

Everybody on this forum can sign it and I would suggest one of our moderators (Alex?) offers this to Jeff in a more official way. My view is that if Jeff finds time to get a few beers using his Evolve custom skateboard and videotape this he should have enough time to read our petition which covers a large group of enthusiastic Evolve riders which he cannot ignore!!
