Andy, thanks for posting. Do you have any idea how much a motor controller is to replace? I fear mine is fried due to some water getting into the board.

I don't know where the BT antenna is on the board, but if its not on the motor controller I highly suggest spraying the entire motor controller with conformal coating to make it waterproof next time. Some have had great results from the Nano technology type spray, but keep in mind you need to re-apply the Nano since it does break down over time. Conformal coating is permanent until you remove it, there's a remover solvent you can buy.

I know the carbon GT has horrible seals on the top to try and protect it from from water intrusion. Actually its not the seal's issue but rather that the middle of the board buckles up like a hump, this makes two openings on both ends of the cover that the water can enter from the front / rear of the board. Even sand and dirt gets in there. Its a real pain. Since the battery cover sits in a tray, this tray gathers water and ends up inside you battery / electrical component box. You're still ok since the electronics sit above the bottom of the battery box some, but its when you then carry or rotate your board that the water now then sloshes all over inside the battery box, so you're bound to fry things that are not protected. Evolve says or claims on their webpage saying it held up well in wet conditions, gutter run offs and sprinkler splashes. So, what the heck is "gutter run-off"? I know gutters hold a bunch of water and I wouldn't want to put any board in that. Now "sprinkler splash", what does that mean? Is that a couple of drops and at what output is this sprinkler? A fire sprinkler splash is a good amount of water honestly and even some outdoor lawn sprinklers can throw a significant amount of splash. I honestly wish they would say they do not recommend riding the board in the rain, and leave it just at that. I honestly do not recommend riding the CGT in any type of wet condition unless you caulked up the battery box good. The GT bamboo is better for resisting water since the battery box is down below on a relatively flat surface of the deck. But know that the wheels will be kicking up lots of water, and with wind from speed, works it into and past weather seals that are not up to par.

Yikes. Ok, I may need one. I'll contact support if so.

Interestingly Boosted last week revolked the water resistant claim with their V2 boards after they found it was the poor water sealing that caused two short curcuits a few month ago.

I siliconed mine shut. Got weather proof tape over it also (TO BE SURE). Water can suck it now. Ireland is somewhat wet 80% of the time, I had to find a way of sealing it up to ensure my motor controller doesn't get damaged again. I'm even considering nanoprotech for the inside to be even more protected. Other than that, I may invent a condom that will cover the whole board, shaft and all.

At least Boosted had enough sense to pull that rhetoric down so consumers don't have a false sense of confidence in the rain. Evolve needs to do the same. They know these boards can't handle wet conditions. Yes, splash from grass and such, a light sprinkle, and even that can do damage if it works inside the board which isn't all to hard to do, especially the Carbon GT.

At minimum they could waterproof the PCB boards, but they don't. Its a a $1 more per board I bet, not even, but I guess it cuts into their bottom line. But that's ok then, just don't act as if that the board can handle water gracefully, it doesn't.
