I live 5 minutes from the Phoenix park. I do believe I will get to use it there for sure. Very nice trails and pathways. Also we have a pretty long stretches along some nice canals and waterways that can be used instead of the roadways.

I don't think we will be doing a Dublin city bomb run through the streets anytime soon with the 3 riders in Ireland :joy: but as the sport grows, who knows?

daddawg, I will keep you posted on progress and meet up for sure. Careful on the roads as id say Irish drivers may not be sure what that guy gliding up at 20km in there rearview mirror actual is? :joy:

Jesus, I'd be wary about riding on some of the Irish roads. Especially the narrow country ones. I remember when my Dad first visited Ireland from the states and we were being driven around by my Mom's brother.

He was bombing it down a country road at 60 odd mph, right down the middle. My father was a little confused as he wasn't really sticking to any one side, so he asked my uncle to clarify what side of the road they drive on in Ireland. My uncle responds "Ahh well, we like to keep our options open over here, best not to stick to any one side", that didn't put his mind at ease :joy:

Absolutely, it's glorious on a nice day there. Better not rain the day these things arrive!
Haha 3 of us isn't enough to start a biker gang like Alex was talking about. We won't be taking up the roads just yet :joy: I used to skateboard when I was younger but not for long, there was no s-parks around so I'll be learning again with a BGT. EASY DOES IT. Haha yea safety first, already got my helmet, gloves, pads, I look like a god damn spaceman with all of it on. Will frighten people at least.

Small country lanes are lethal true! I was born on them so you develop a fearlessness ha but not to worry, I'll be VERY cautious still. It's the drivers I'd be worried about. An Irish farmer has never seen the likes of this 'spacecraft' :joy:

Where do you purchase your gear? Goskate.ie I have found to be good with a nice selection. I got a triple8 helmet from skatehut in the uk, shipped in about 2 days which was quick. I want to pick up some elbow & kneepads soon but I plan on using motorbike gear for now, good padding and warm. Also was thinking of a ski helmet for the cold days ahead...

I bought a motorcycle style hoodie with armour in from eBay for general riding around and if I am going for a long skate I have motorcycle jeans (black denim) with knee, hip padding. Looks like normal clothing so a little less conspicuous although a ruroc never really blends in!

Goskate were out of stock for what I was lookin for unfortunately but I got a Mongoose helmet, knee and elbow pads from Halfords, Pro Tech wrist guards from Skatehut and an alien voice changer from Argos :joy:

Mgb, conspicuous sounds good! Were the hoody and jeans expensive?

Go for it, I'm happy for you guys to share links to other useful products. It's one of the main reasons I made the forum, so we can more easily share knowledge and find links to / info about useful add ons/accessories and help eachother out to get the most out of our boards and riding experience:thumbsup:

Thanks mgb, it's suspiciously cheap! What's the padding like on it?

It's not bad, I'll grab a pic. Not sure how it would stand up in a big stack but it will be better than nothing!!

After 2 months with Bamboo GT, yes, with AT setup, if you don't mind paying additional $550, then get a CGT, but that's a big amount of difference. The long distance rides you will get probably will be 1 out of 10 of your trips. If you are a heavy long distance user, yes definitely get the carbon, I just love the smooth flexy ride of bamboo gt on the other hand. It is too satisfying.

Nice, my Bamboo GT should be arriving this week. I seen you had a battery issue with yours, did you resolve it?
