Carbon GT cutout/connection issues

I received my Carbon GT this week - what an absolute animal this board is. I have prior experience with other Eboards but the power with the GT as well as the AT wheels really make for an awesome ride.

With that said, there are a few QC issues that concern me. On the very first ride, while in fast mode accelerating, the remote would momentarily cutout and pick back up. While this wasn't a huge issue in this scenario, it could be if I was going down a steep hill or accelerating hard in GT mode.

I had an owner of a previous Gen evolve tell me this happened when he first got his board and solved itself.

On top if this, again within the first charge (AT wheels) I had the battery completely shutoff going up a small hill. Luckily I was going slow. I had to get off the board and press the on/off button to regain power. Again, not something I am thrilled about, more as it has seriously effected my piece of mind while riding.

    Any input, similar experience?

Dont sound right mate, I'd open up and check all the connections, make sure the plugs are in solid. Its easy when changing to AT to tug the motor wires for example.

If problem persists def reach out to Evolve as it shouldn't cut out unless low on juice

I had some serious cutouts with my Carbon GT and the Germany Evolve support swapped out the electronics because of a broken receiver (at least this what they said). I had the board only for 3 days and the repaired board should arrive back tomorrow. So let's hope this really fixed it.
I recorded a video for the support in German, so even if you don't understand the words, if you board sounds and acts like mine, send it in:

My Carbon GT has cut out once in the last three months that I've had it. I was going at about 15mph on flat ground and managed to run off my board. Although it didn't come to a complete stop, it was enough to throw me off. Pretty scary stuff.

    Love your youtube videos man.

Yeah, I also own a Boosted V2 (previously had a V1) and while the GT is considerably more fun to ride IMO, some of these little quirks are inexcusable.

I had similar issues with my GT Carbon, It was one of the first shipments.
After contacting Evolve, they helped me do a few troubleshooting tests, then they sent out a new remote to test.
In the end I was still having issues with connection, I sent the board back to Evolve, and they fixed it for be quickly, they ended up changing over the motor controller, and all is good now. Evolve are always quick to answer the phone and emails, and I did not have any trouble with the whole process. If you are having problems, don't hesitate to give them a call.

we are talking about a minority here, only a handful of boards have had issues, and the company seem to resolve them quickly with little down time. Yes it does suck when you have issues, but in the grand scheme of things most owners have zero issues.

I have had mine turn itself off while riding multiple times. Remote goes to ---, board power light is off even though its depressed.
Funny enough it hasn't happened lately.

I'm not sure how this is relevant to the conversation? The other quirks I was referring to are things like severely out of balance AT wheels, super soft motor mounts and a poor design on the reverse button/function. Doesn't take away from the fact that it is amazing riding board.

Same happened to me, I would lose connection and remote would read - - -, I try to connect again and no luck, it made me turn both board and remote off to be able to connect again, but it didn't always happen. I would recommend sending it back to get fixed, even if it does only happen a few times, best to get it sorted while still under warranty

We would have to see quite a few issues reported before there are any changes to the parts, and it'd hard to tell if the boards are being abused in order to snap things like motor mounts, the Evolve World Cup put them to the test, hard riding and all sorts of terrain, and no one managed to break a motor mount. Not saying there should not be improvements, but understanding exactly what's causing issues is key, and angry users will stand out on the net and forums more than happy customers.

Have you changed to AT wheels, back to street several times? The tiny Hex screws are already making noticible dents in the mounting channels. I'm not saying they are going to snap, I'm pointing out that this should have been a different grade of metal due to potentially frequent swapping of wheels.

I'm not an "angry user" just as you aren't an Evolve fan boy. How do you suspect one can understand exactly what is causing without looking and discussing patterns? Defending evolve is not necessary here, though I'm sure they appreciate your defense. I like the board.

I personally think everything should be openly discussed and doesn't need to be followed up with a defense statement.

I don't really feel the need to defend anything, there are issues I would fix or ad too, I just meant that more often than not people (not referring to you) will turn to the internet to point out issues they are not happy with about products, its just the way it works, I did research recently for car insurance, and when i checked out the user reviews for several of my options, they pretty much all had 1 star rating, even though they were big companies, as it goes by the fact that you will see more people turning to social media and such to voice their frustration, than happy content users/customers sometimes, or that their voices are louder.

All I have to go on is my own personal experience, I don't have a stake in the company,I am in no way a fan boy of any product (love my mac computers, but hate their other products, bla bla.) I get pissed off when things happen that i'm not happy about too, as we should when you buy such an expensive toy, but it is also good to put things into perspective, and log actual cases where issues happen. This thread was about connection issues, and yes there have been a few users with this issue, and we now have some trouble shooting and resolution tips, If you would like to point out some more issues you see as problematic, lets make a different post, perhaps listing known issues, and some ideas of how to improve the products, Evolve may even be interested to see their users opinions and helpful ideas, lets call it constructive criticism. I did not mean to offend you in any way seattleRC51, I was simply pointing out that yes there have been issues, and also that we have had many put the boards through their paces, and if something pops up that is very very common, then that is when we start to think about things like product recalls, or replacement parts of higher quality.

  16. Sucks you guys are having issues. I haven't experienced any disconnection issues with mine so far. Had it 2 weeks and am using it most days.

Understood. Based on the number of people that have responded here and what I have seen on Reddit, it does indeed seem like their are some fairly common issues with the board shutting off or remote connectivity problems. Either way, I think it's implied that the majority of boards are probobly fine. No offense taken!

  18. I got my CGT pre-owned, and Evolve told me the waranty was null because of it.

Bummer, I have the same cut-off issues, it cuts out from 1-5 times per ride, so I always accelerate when it's safe/ brake slowly instead of braking quickly.

Pretty frustrating to be honest, lost my balance a couple of times,. but I've recovered all times. (10~ times)

I'm gonna eat **** one day though, guaranteed, but I cannot afford to send it in to Evolve and pay a ridiculous amount as they are known to do.

Gonna risk riding it, since it's the best board I've tried yet, and I cannot go back to smaller wheels after loving AT.

    *sigh*

That is strange that the warranty is null, bad form from Evolve esp as board cant be over 6 months old. Unusual :expressionless: My advice is try to find someone local and try their remote. Most cut out issues i have come across are where people have fallen off or dropped it and its become a bit sketchy. Also if not already open her up and make sure all the connectors on the motor controller are firmly clipped in and one isnt a bit loose.
