    Hey everyone,

My 17 CGT is amazing but have always had random issues. Has anyone every had an issue where only one motor starts working? It usually goes away after I power the board on and off but recently I was only able to fix the issue by syncing up the old remote then re-syncing the R2 remote. I went ahead and bought a new motor controller hoping this is the issue but wanted to hear from you guys what you thought. Also, anyone have issues not being able to change modes on the R2? Sometimes it locks up and wont change between speed modes. Thanks in Advance!

I’ve had the same issues with my GTX. I’ve also found power cycling the board fixes the issue. I’ve seen other posts where evolve determined it was a motor controller issues and some had just found it was a loose sensor wire connection at the controller board.
Same issue as well sometimes with the speed modes. When it happens try gently pulling the throttle out, and switching modes. If it works then it’s the trigger switch having some variation. I’ve found doing a calibration fixes the issue.

Thanks so much for the response. When you say power cycle, you mean just turning the board and remote on and off?

Yes , although I have had to once opened up the enclosure and unplug the battery and re connected. That worked too.

Thanks! I am hoping the new motor controller solves this issue. It's never fun to be 15 miles from home and have these issues. I appreciate your help and response.

Please let me know if it does. I’ve been hesitant to order the controller since it’s not chesp and I’ve been able to fix the issue the few times it’s happened.

I sent my board back for warranty repair for remote intermittently switching to safe mode. After receiving back, I don't get the intermittent switching so far. On my first ride just barely started and at my 1st brake stop, remote switched to safe mode and was stuck there. Powering board and remote off and on did not do anything. I remembered someone on the forums had this issue and recalibrated the r2 remote. I did the same and remote functions good now. So its looking good. Had it back and riding for a week now. Thank you to everyone on this forum who provides help and info and also to evolve usa for excelent cust service!

Good to know. I will also try to re-calibrate and see if that helps. Let me know how you make out of the next few months..

Quick update.. I installed the new Motor Controller last night. It's not hard to install but getting the clips out of Hall 1 and Hall 2 is really difficult. You can easily pull out the wires of the clip and will need to send it back to evolve so you need to be really careful. That said, its installed and seems to run fine. Will take it out for a long ride tonight and see how it goes. Also re calibrated the R2. Will let you know how it goes.

Went for a ride last night. I got about 3 miles from home and one of the motors stopped working. After spending 20 minutes turning the board/remote on and off it had no effect and had to walk it home. Really not happy about this. I have only ridden this board on the street, never abused it and tried to be patient but this is ridiculous. Will install a new motor and see if that was the issue to begin with. In my opinion you cant charge a premium price for a board and have this many problems.

you may have a motor issue and not a motor control board issue. I had to replace the motor last night. I had replaced the motor controller and I still had an issue with only one motor working.

Oh man that sucks. So far I’ve only had the issue happen twice in the last six months and it didn’t persist. At least the motors are cheaper than the esc and there are options
