    Hey guys!

Anyone else experience getting thrown off their board and injuring themselves? I posted this back in August '17, but my Evolve GT Bamboo and I were cruising along in ECO mode at a ripe 12 MPH and the wheels suddenly locked! I fell hard on my left shoulder, and luckily was wearing my helmet at the time. The road rash recovered by the aches and pains hadn't subsided so I decided to visit my Ortho doctor.

Results: Broken tuberosity at the Humerus, and a torn Supraspinatus tendon. I've said this before, but this is an unacceptable fault in programming.

To their credit, Evolve was quick to respond with an RA # and an offer to inspect the board and components. They checked the board and remote and found NO fault errors. They claim that their was a sync error because I didn't wait long enough for the board to communicate with the remote, but I clearly remember seeing ECO on the Remote before hopping on the board to ride. I had also made it about 100 yards before this happened. They gave me a new deck and a new set of street wheels...no concession for the cost of my upcoming medical bills! I can't help but feeling that there's something disastrous around the corner for someone else. What if this occurs at top speed? It's not as if I was putting myself in harms way...just a casual ride from the parking spot to back home. I'm having anxiety getting back on the thing, and haven't taken it out of the box since it was returned from inspection.

I'd like to hear from others who have been injured at the behest of a faulty communication between the remote and the board.

    Short answer: yes.
After months of relatively trouble free cruising I got thrown just this morning.
The remote occasionally doesn't connect properly and I can usually tell by the acceleration erratic behaviour. So I stop, restart everything and try again. (often multiple times)
What I have noticed is when it's good, its fine, but when its bad (like this morning) then multiple restarts often don't fix it. Like it's stuck in some 'bad connectivity' pattern. Really strange.
Anyway, felt it was a little bit flaky with acceleration cutting in an out so I thought I would cruise to the next street crossing and do my 3rd restart ! for my 10 minute commute to work.
I tapped the brake just a tiny bit, as per normal, and BAM ! the thing totally locked up and slammed me into the ground.
Nothing broken luckily but I'm a bit beat up just before my surf trip next week and I've scraped up my brand new sneakers. :-(

For the unwary, and even for me who's now quite experienced with the unruly behaviour of the remote connectivity, these things can be near deadly. If that had happened just 10metres nearer the road I would have been under a car, not having a whinge on this forum.

I'll add a Level 2 AC separation (shoulder) to the list. This was my 3rd (in 2 years of daily riding) and worst bail directly caused by a remote disconnect. To note: I have 6 GT remotes (and 2 AT Carbon GT's). The reason I have so many is the charging port would break, I'd buy a new one, then I found a guy that repaired all my old ones. To note, one of the 6 has a much higher propensity to glitches, which I knew, so this was partially my fault. That remote is now retired. Anyway, shoulder shmoulder...Ride on..

I had a stack last week gunning it up hill. The board was hauling hard on a steep bit and then just cut out throwing me to the ground. I lost some skin and a big toe nail (weird I know). Think the hill may have been too steep at that point and I may have overloaded the motors. Occasionally the remote seems to disconnect and I wonder if this was the problem. I totally love riding it, but scared to go hard up hills now as my confidence is a bit shaken.

Literally heading to the hospital now for my rotator cuff surgery. Pisses me off beyond belief. The fact that the remote control protocol was so poorly implemented on a vehicle that goes 18+mph is beyond me. Please stay in touch fellas. Evolve NEEDS to fix this by updating the communications protocol on the ESC and giving all current users a free upgrade to the more robust remote. This is a POTENTIALLY deadly situation, and I count myself lucky.

My first post, and first eskate, and my first eskate injury!

Haven't had my Evolve Bamboo GTX for very long, maybe two weeks, but I've allready managed to bang myself up pretty good. Now my accident wasn't caused by the remote, but rather the board went into a speed wobble during a 27mph downhill dash. Totally my fault, totally my stupidity, but now I have a broken right clavicle in three pieces that required a surgery to repair. I have had issues with the LCD remote pairing to the board, and my first remote got replaced on waranty for a broken charge port, but that was on startup of the board, and the charge port broke my first day owning the board because of a bad solder joint

I'm sitting in the orthopedics office right now, a week after my crash wishing I could ride again.

Now I have gone faster on my push decks, up to 40mph once on a special downhill deck, so I'm thinking that I'm just not used to the instability of a double kingpin truck. Otherwise, I love my GTX!

The trucks come very loose from the factory. I tighten mine quite a bit and the board is super stable at higher speed, much safer feeling.

I had this happen today. I think I broke my foot and hip. Can't sleep because of the pain. Live by my self and have to figure out a way to get to the hospital.

It seams the issue it with the R2 remote when board is under 50% battery. Second time this happened to me but I wasn't going 20 mph the first time. I wear full armor and helmet but it didn't protect me from running at 20 mph which is what happens when you stop. I had two steps before I face planted and rolled a few times. I had done absolutely nothing wrong. I was on the ride for about an hour at this point and heading back to my vehicle. Was actually heading back to get my R1 remote because I had issues where the acceleration fails after the board goes under 50% battery.

Want to give a heads up if you use the R2 and board is under 50% don't go max speed. I had already sent my R2 back when this happened the first time. Evolve said they had never heard of my issue before. Seams they have serious issues with their software on the R2. I really enjoy riding and have taken every precaution to do so safely. Evolve referred to this as ghosting. It's where the board is connected and brakes but does not accelerate. An issue they know nothing about but have a name for. If you have this issue be warned because your board may just brake on you for no good reason sending you flying. I believe these issues are related.

Sad thing is no one is going to read this until it happens to them. If your reading this and it sounds familiar I'd suggest you use the R1 remote. Or be very mindful of your boards battery. Evolve needs to act. This is not something to brush under the rug.

Also this issue has nothing to do with loose trucks and wobbles. I had no stability loss during my ride and even spent six to eight miles off road.

    Be careful people.

  10. this happened to me on my way in to work this morning, got about a quarter of my way into work and my board just stopped sending me flying and sliding a good 10ft on my bag and helmet. somehow managed to do something to my heel as i can't load my foot up and walk normal. I charged everything last night and it was all normal this morning, as someone relatively new to the powered longboards it's kind of knocked my confidence a bit. I've had worse spills doing other things but this one shook me up a fair amount.

Here we are...halfway through 2018, and the problem persists. There were certainly other, more robust alternatives, to the technology Evolve chose to implement in this board. This has happened (and continues to do so) to enough people for Evolve to recognize they have a problem on their hands. The R2 doesn't solve the issue...it is inherent to the design of the transceiver technology and programming Evolve uses. WHY this has never been recalled is beyond me. This problem is a danger to the consumer. When Boosted had a problem with TWO of their V2 boards smoking, they immediately halted shipping, and recalled all previously shipped boards to figure out the problem: https://blog.boostedboards.com/battery-pack-recall/
how do I use this thing? ....sorry this happened to you...I'm still recovering from my surgery and I have a haunting suspicion my arm will never be the same again. Ride cautiously on your board, or better yet, don't ride it at all. It's not a risk worth assuming. Let Evolve know of your problem, I'm interested to hear their on-going BS response.

Had that happen 1 year ago, cruising at 15mph for about 5 min and then sudden wheel lock and I`m flying forward. Did not ride for 1 year after the incident. Remote seemed to be faulty after that, board would randomly accelerate and slow down on its own even though the trigger position didnt change. I got R2 remote after and problems were gone but then both R2 remotes that I recentle purchased completely stopped syncing.

I have noticed with the R2 remote that in certain areas that have heavy wireless pollution, the response of the remote gets a little choppy, and at one point quit working until I pushed a block away. Has anyone noticed their boards showing symptoms only on certain blocks or streets? Could be a pollution issue.

On another note, I was skating on castro street in San Francisco when I stopped to check my map. After a minuit of thought I grabbed my board by the motors to drag it behind me down a really steep hill. Almost instantly I dropped the board because the motors burned my hand. That has to be the hottest I have ever gotten them. I could smell debris burning from them

Also, has anyone experienced all of their screws falling out? I've lost three motor mount screws and a screw for the esc cover. If evolve could put some blue lockette on the screws during assembly, that would be awesome. would only cost them about a few cents in locktite per board.

I purchased the Bamoo GTX for my son with the R1 Remote. I'm more of a OneWheel kinda guy. Anyhow, the first day he started riding the board, the wheels locked up and threw him off the board. He's has road rash from head to toe. I though maybe he had just let go of the trigger and it over rebounded, causing it to hard brake. I retrained him on the remote and told him not to release the trigger, but to move into neutral if he wanted to coast. We cleaned him up and got back on the boards. about 15 minutes into the ride, the board did the same thing. This time, he was more seriously injured. At least a severely sprained wrist, but possibly broken (he had wrist guards). Anyhow, I was convinced that he was doing something to cause this, so I hopped on the board the next day and about 5 minutes into my ride, the board hard braked again and sent me onto the pavement. Now I've got the road rash to match his. There is something seriously wrong with the connection between the board and remote. But what is absolutely certain is that evolve seriously screwed up. After reading other horror stories, it is clear that this not a normal wear and tear issue. There is a manufacturers defect and it seems like Evolve is basically ignoring it. But no for long. If you have been injured due to this sudden and unintended breaking problem, please contact me at stuart at gmail dot com. I'm likely going to be getting my attorney involved. They can't put good intention-ed users of their products in danger like this.

Just an FYI - I found a fault with the help of evolve 6 months ago. It turned out to be a motor somehow. It was intermittent, but the fault went hard one morning going to work. It was cutting out on me under heavy load uphill. Evolve sent a new motor which I changed out and it has run fine ever since. The old motor was tested at Evolve, however they still couldn't find a fault. Touch wood it has run faultlessly ever since.

Happened to me the night of July 21 , was going full speed and felt like breaks kicked on for a split second at random ( ive been riding full speed and been switched to eco mode, and ive instantly completely let off the throttle when going full speed , but this was completely different ), I went flying onto the asphalt and got insane road rash on the entire left side of body and horrendous wrist sprain ( learning how to fall properly might be a good idea , like onto knee pads or tucking and rolling, not sticking your hands out lol ), I was injured and couldn't do much for about a month, but thought maybe I accidentally bumped the brakes or something so I decked myself out in helmet ( I always wear a helmet regardless) elbow pads, wrist guards, and heavy duty knee pads (just short of wrapping myself in bubble wrap...or "draping myself in velvet were it socially acceptable") and took it slow around 12 mph and the same thing happened , was riding , having fun and at about 15 minutes itfelt like the brakes suddenly kicked on for a split second sending me forward , this was , I think, about 3 days ago, at least I wasn't going full speed
