In the last 12 months I have replaced four 7" Tubes on my Carbon GT AT. Has anyone else had problems with tubes failing or is just me ?

Four tubes have failed in exactly the same place. Where the valve is joined to the rubber part of the tube. Evolve tell me this is a consumable part. What do you think ? Wear and tear, Consumable part or just not fit for the purpose?

I have had none fail at that location. That looks like the type of failure that sometimes occurs from running the tire when the air pressure is low or a spot on your rim that may be wearing at the stem area. That could be a point that flexes as the tire rotates when there is not enough air in the tire. I have had a number of flats however. Most, if not all of mine are due to the desert plants and cactus that are everywhere in my location.

Thanks for you advice. Interesting to know. I will keep an eye on pressure. I normally run at 40-50 psi as per the side of tyre.

The previous pictures are of tubes purchased from Evolve.

The picture below is of a tube purchased from trampaboards.com it looks as though it has strengthening around the valve whereas the Evolve tube doesn't so I will report back. Hopefully it will last. Price is cheaper as well. Only £11.50 from TrampaBoards. Evolve charge £14.50.

Just get some 8" MBS tires, there are a ton of different 8" tubes out there that are easy to get.

If it is a problem with the rim then that won't help.

I put slime in my tubes which will help with punctures.

Also make sure you are checking the tire pressure every now and then. Changes in temp and other factors can cause your tires to become over/under inflated, which will then make punctures more likely.

Thanks for your reply. Do the 8" MBS Tyres and 8" Tubes fit on the 7" 175 Evolve Wheels or would I need to get new wheels. Thanks in advance.

Nope they fit on the standard evolve wheels just fine.

I'm running them on trampa hubs right now, but I believe I saw a post where someone else had them on the stock hubs.

I run the MBS 8” tires on the Evolve hubs. No problem. You need the 8” tubes as well, and a good tire patch kit.

Thanks guys I will take a look at options. Can you send me a link of the tyres you use on Evolve Hubs.

You did notice that the stems extend beyond the end of the hub? If you stand the board up on its side on the tires it compresses the stem back into the hub.
