im looking at getting either 38t gear or 36t for my abec 11 107’s and wondered if anyone has tried the 36t gear from Boardbumpers as I’m wondering if there’s much difference

KCF has, but I think he just sold that setup in the buy/sell/trade forum - to DDK I think. I recall that KCF mentioned that on the 36T gears the 107s felt to him like a 97/32 setup. Those were the Evolve 107s. Not sure if you meant those or the SuperFlys. I’m interested in the combo too. I’m running the Evolve 107s on 38T and I find it a bit too torquey. I’m waiting on some 32s to try. I sold my original set and am mildly regretting it now. If you do end up buying the 36T gears, I’d be interested in hearing what you think.

Ive just bought the 38t kit which arrives along with both my updated R2 remotes having had the new firmware and battery upgrades done.I opted for the 38t kit as I can get belts from evolve if need be .If I bought the 36t kit and a belt failed I'd struggle to get a replacement other than from board bumpers in Aus who sell the 36t kit. That just wouldn't make for a cost effective solution.I love the 97/32 set up and tbh I'm not that keen on the thought of swapping out belts, wheels n bumpers to change the set up should I want a change of style but thought I'd give the 107's a go and if I find there not for me I'll sell the wheel / hub kit and just stick with my 97's. I like the idea of the 107's suiting our crappy uk roads but I was a little disappointed with the fact they they add quite a bit of weight .
I'll report back after this weekend if the bloody weather stays dry for long enough

Just spent 20 mins swapping over my new Evolve Abec 107's with 38t kit to see if I preferred the ride but I fear it might of been a expensive and waisted idea. Right off I wasn't that stoked on the extra weight the wheels carry .I know the GTX is never going to be a lightweight machine but you can feel that extra weight when you pick the board up. As for the ride ,well it didn't feel that much different to the Stoneground 97's which I love .I probably need to give it a full day but I really couldn't feel a lot of difference as far as soaking up the crappy road surface, and that saddled with the change over time ,makes me think they will sit collecting dust .Probably should of tried a set before shelling out nearly £200 .At least I'm running bearings that don't need spacers or speed rings .

I’ve never tried the 97s. I went straight from the 83/32 to 107/38. Are you going to try the 107s on your 32T gears? That’s what I’m trying next. Amen on the bearings with built-in spacers and speedrings. Are you using Zealous? I just put them on my AT kit. Well worth it for the convenience alone.

Hi ,I will try the 32t gear just to see what it's like but tbh right now I've just put it all back to stock with the 97's and don't feel over enthusiastic about changing it right now .
Ref bearings .Ive invested in a set of Seismic Tektron ceramic bearings .At £70 there not cheap but they feel great .Im going to get another set of seismic bearings but probably a Abec5 rated set which are about half the price if not less .Zealous bearings have quite a mixed review so I decided to go with the Tektron's

I changed from 97/32 to 107/32 (ABEC Superfly) about 6-8 weeks ago. I do about 20kms a day on a mix of super smooth bike paths, pretty rough bike paths near gum trees\acorn trees, and some footpaths.
At first I felt that there was not much difference to the 97's however after a couple of weeks I found that my comfort level went up a lot on the 107's and I was getting around a lot faster than I had on the 97's.
    Upsides
The 107's are really sticky when cornering and I find I can really dig into curves at high speeds and the wheels just stick
I have to deal with sticks and acorns in some areas and I have hit some pretty decent size sticks on the 107's and all I feel is a slight bump. The acorns just get crushed and flung out. (I do try to avoid both these but sometimes they come up on you pretty fast) I also ride home in the dark with lights so knowing that sticks and things are not going to throw me off is comforting :)
    Downsides
With the 32T gear I noticed a drop in acceleration straight away. I used to get around in Fast mode, but had to go to GT to get the same experience, which resulted in less battery life
Hills are more of a struggle now as well. The lack of torque along with the cold weather make some hills quite demanding on the board, which I suspect again affects my range.

I will also say that I am a lot more confident now than I was when I had the 97's, so possibly some of the above is just related to the fact that I am a better skater than I was 6 weeks ago, I do however love the 107's and do not think I would go back to 97's. I am thinking of trying the 38T gears though.

The other big plus of the superly's is that I have had 0 chunking in 6 weeks. The 97's chunked around the edge after a couple of weeks and after a couple of months the whole outside edge of all 4 wheels was a jagged mess.
