Anyone interested in a consistent Belt Tension Tool?

  1. So I designed this in Fusion 360 and printed it in Carbon Fiber PLA! Anyone interested in a super consistent way to tighten their belts?

It also allows you to set your tension while tightening up the motor screws!

    That’s a really smart idea.

I find the motor screws to the plate aren’t great, the third screw barely fits, I understand that’s because the plates are duel purpose for the street set up?

Anyhow, because of that I see movement on the final tightening that seems to negate precision tension setting. Be interesting to know if this helps with that.

Ah, it looks like you are just relying on the back two screws to adjust, with the wheel already on?

Are you familiar with the idler pulley? I’ve always thought something like that would be awesome on an Evolve. I think Trampa have one too. Some example pics in this post:

    My obsession with idler pulleys

Anyway, back to your invention! When will you be ready to ship to the UK? Always awesome to see some innovation tinkering!

    I’m in Arizona-

So yes, on final tightening, like when you tension the belt... you slide this on and twist until to have just enough. Then you can tighten the motor.

I’m going to redesign in CAD, and need it up a little.

If there’s a enough interest I’ll print several.

I already have another design that is reliefed to go around the motor wire safely.

If we can get a handful of people interested I’ll get some out together. We all know having even Belt tension is important. But Evolve just lets you “eye it”... drives me nuts. I’m obsessed with my belt tension.

What do you think something like this is worth? Just wondering? They cost about $10 to print using the $2 an hour methodology.

What’s it worth to you guys? I’m finishing the design tonight. The prototype I have is awesome... I’m also selling them in a package of two so you can balance the belt tension on the board.

You have to tell us what you want to charge for it.

I think $20 is a reasonable price. You should account not just for the time it takes to print them but also the time you'll have to put in to managing orders, packing and shipping, along with the fact you designed it.

It's not like you'll be able to quit your job for this thing, so it should be worth the extra time you have to put in to make these for us.
