Has any found an inverter or charger that allows you to recharge a Bamboo GT whilst driving in my car?

The guys in France world cup had a setup in the van to charge their boards. Message Olivier on facebook to see how they did it.

  3. i used my booster jumpstart in the car , and plugged in both carbon and bamboo GT to it , it was charging ok to begin with but after a few min it was beeping , i think it was drawing too much power , a specially the fast charger 4 amps ...
no solution yet , still looking .

What's the power requirements for the GT charger? Is it the same as the previous bamboo and carbon chargers?

You should be fine with a 300w+ inverter.

Mat Glow Ball has a big power pack you use to jump start car you can plug it into to charge on the go.

I'd use nothing but a pure sine wave inverter if I was going to charge my board, hate to blow out the Evolves controller due to an inverter being dirty and sending out noise.

Funny you ask this... I made a 'portable charging station' just for this very purpose. Has been working well, although one time when it was very hot out (about 90 degrees F., in car was warmer), the inverter did cut out for a while.

    Components:
    1. 650Ah car battery from Wal-Mart (25R size I believe)
    2. Case, from Amazon:

    3. This 800w inverter (so it has capacity to use 2 chargers simultaneously, this is NOT a pure sine wave unit):

    4. These terminals:

Inverter is mounted on the outside of the box, along one long side. Can do a pic if needed.

Like I said, has worked perfectly for an in-car charging station, except for one time when very hot, the overheat protection of the inverter kicked in. As soon as you plug in the Evolve charger, the fans start running, so it's a pretty decent load (250w?).

Wow! Sounds a bit more difficult than I originally hoped.. I guess I'll just use my new Super Fast charger at a pub to charge my Bamboo GT for now..

I should add.. an Optima deep-cycle Marine battery would be the better option for the battery to use, will last longer and handle better being run down low. But I didn't want to spend nearly $200, and the $48 battery I got from Wal-Mart so far has been working great!

Too bad there isn't an inverter that could plug into the power outlet while driving.

    Got one of those too...

Just didn't want to run down the car battery - I usually charge it for a few hours in the car while it's parked.

I plan to charge the board whilst driving to another cool place to skate :)

I Just added a charging Port into my ford truck which I use for NYC 24-hour towing services, to charge evolve working perfectly so far.
