I used the Samsung 30Qs. They seemed like the best price per performance ratio in my opinion

The lowest it ever got on the board was about 56% that ride. The 72 wasn't 100% accurate, but I could've easily pushed over 30 miles. Hopefully you can find a great battery maker over there to do the same!

Good to see more 10S4P boards around, out of interest what size nickel are you using on these @longhairedboy ?

10mm x .015" nickle strips between cells within the 2S4P groups and 12AWG superworm between the 5 2S4P groups to keep the pack flexible.

I'm using a sunkko 788H spot welder, i believe it has been modified to last longer. I got it from a guy in Chicago via Ebay and i believe he was modding them after getting them at bulk discounts. It was under $200.

that's the only reason anyone should ever get off a board. Numb feet. Not voltage sag, dead cells, shorted motors, **** wiring, or cheap ass packs with no range.

If you want numb feet that you can barely walk on, i build boards with packs that will get over 30 miles. Legit 30 miles at ~20mph. Not advertised 30 miles that works out to be more like 22 if you get your dog to pull you the final stretch then stop at McD's for fries and a recharge.

Wow ok, that's almost 0.4mm thick, I didn't think the Sunkko welders could handle such thick nickel.

yeah you crank that ***** up to ten and add some padding to the top of the welding probe holders so you can add manual pressure to the weld location and it produces some pretty solid welds at that thickness. That's about the most you can go though. I had to bolt my unit to the desk to keep it from moving and allow myself the higher amount of welding pressure.

But it can be done without building your own welder from an old microwave transformer which is probably my next step. If you really want to melt some ****, you need to make your own.

I also have a 708 ( i think that's the model number) with the welding probes broken out into a wand but that one can't handle the thickness, so i only use it on occasion for the tiny balance tabs and for tiny packs that use thinner strips. When i build my own it will have enough current to handle a wand and holy **** will i be happy that day. The manual acrobatics required to build a large pack on a 788H is Guiness record worthy.

I just want to add to this thread to say I had LHB do my Bamboo GT with a pack of Samsung 30Q's and the range, power, and lack of sag is nothing short of astounding. It makes me a little sick that evolve creates these with such crappy batteries--the pack is sort of the heart of the board. I would recommend to anyone considering a GTX to find a used Bamboo and have LHB do a 10s4p custom pack instead--the cost is probably about the same! My board has a bit more flex now too, just like the GTX.

Anyone test the AT wheels range wise after upgrade? I'm itching to get my board back BAD!!

I got about 12 miles full size speed in warm weather. After a few months heavy use and in colder temps I get 8-10. Low temps kill batt performance.

sounds reasonable. The stock evolve battery is worthless (voltage sag, less power) to me after it drops to 50% at a standstill. I get about 5 miles of hard riding on cement in before that happens so I'd be happy with 12.

Mine used to drop to eco in cold temps after 3 miles. It was silly. LHB s battery is a massive improvement.

I would be interested in a new pack built for a Carbon GT. Can you handle this as well Longhairedboy?

I just ordered a battery from this guy. He's doing the whole thing for $500 including shipping using good Sony cells. Of course I'm routing the board and soldering the battery to the BMS myself. Evolve Battery Upgrade

How did it go ? Are you happy with the result ? Better range ? No sag ?

    THanks

AAB938F7-C868-4E38-A2A1-E378285C8BC0.png I just got my bamboo gt back from LHB about three weeks ago and had the battery upgrade done. I weigh about 240lbs and the old battery in eco mode maybe got me about 10 miles. I can’t believe the distance I am getting now from the mod. It is incredible and I couldn’t be happier. Worth every dollar. Half the time I rode today was in eco and the other half was in fast and gt. The only reason I stopped was because my feet were getting pretty numb. Super Happy!!!! Thanks LHB!
