Unfortunately, there are definitely soldered components missing from the PCB unlike my own and some other first gen Bamboo One motor controllers that included all PCB components with the exception of the leads from the PCB for the second motor.

This is definitely something to consider before purchasing components for this mod...although Evole can sell you a motor controller for two motor functionality the cost may be prohibitive :/

I have upgraded my One to dual drive and thought I'd add to this thread which gave me the idea. The problem was I am too heavy and kept breaking parts of my drive so I bought the part from Evolve and upgraded to dual drive. I did need to buy a new motor controller and Evolve did confirm that the one in my board was not capable of running the two motors. The end result is pretty much a GT under the hood and its great, I am really happy with the performance and also the reliability now. My advice to buyers would be that if you are heavy buy the dual drive so the load is spread over the motors. The bamboo one is awesome and powerful but in my experience the motor is so powerful there can be some drivetrain issues, especially when braking.

  3. Hey how much was the motor controller from evolve. Did you need to purchase any other connectors or do I just install the new motor controller and plug in the two new motors and am good to go

Can't remember how much it was, from memory about $500 for all the extra kit, however I still had dramas with the remote having drop-outs, even after they sent me out a new GT remote (not R2). Didn't have to buy any connectors and out of interest I ran it for a while with the ONE motor on one side and a GT motor on the other side and it seems to work fine with the two different sized motors. Not sure if its good long term tho. The end result is a pretty sick board, I haven't ridden a GT but I think its better with the ONE board. Worth noting the battery is smaller than a GT but its ok for how long I ride to work, so all good for me, but could do with more range sometimes I guess.

  5. In one of the evolve videos on YouTube it says that the batteries are the same actually the bamboo GT is 36v 6.5AH lithium ion and bamboo one is 36v 7AH lithium ion. Said that they put a slightly bigger battery since bamboo one runs 2000 motor where as gt runs 2 1500's. Which the one 2000 needs more to back it up when running harder up hills etc. Not sure if this is true as this is what I am referring to from YouTube video. I am a noob to this and was going to purchase a backfire G2s but I really love the evolve platform and came across a bamboo one for 600$ in really good condition. Posted for 750 but got him down to 600. I really want to make it into a dual motor board. From to looks of it looks fairly simple. I just have to purchase motor mount plate, drive gear, drive belt, motor gear, belt covers, and 2 motors and motor controller. If I go the route of using gt motors with new motor controller would lt it be better to get a r2 remote. Will their be any soldering that needs to be done. Did you end up using both gt motors in the end

Hey is that both motors soldered to both sides shown in that pic. If I have one of the first Gen one boards will it have a controller like that with only 3 wires soldered on one side. And I will have to solder the other 3. If it doesn't then I just have to purchase new motor controller and it's a plug and play thing correct?

yes i ended up with two GT Motors but could have used ONE motor plus GT Motor, but I ended up with two due to how I ordered and they had to send me a replacement ONE motor anyway so I have a spare. I reckon the R2 remote is the way to go, still get some drops with the other remotes. No soldering needed for me. interesting about battery, cheers. Also you might need GT rear trucks or at least truck bar thing...

How is the Bamboo Two? Still going? I am thinking of updating my One to a Two just wondering how the battery holds up with two motors to power instead of one.

I am happy to report the "Bamboo Two" is still going strong. With daily use as a commuter to work, that often include detours ;)
I have not experienced any issues. When purchasing parts for this project... I was unsure about the longevity of all the components. Now I can say that after 1000km of riding! I have not experienced one single failure.
